Graflex Variations: Facts and vs. Replica

Had to reply on this one, my dad has worked on the metal industry for more than 30 years, on different kinds of plating and patina finishes, and back when I was a teen with my first Graflex he immediately told me it was chromed, you can tell by certain lighting condition it has a blue like finish, but definetely nickel goes before the chrome.

That's what I thought as well. Nickel is far more yellow-ish.

So I have finally recieved the Graflex saber! What a beautifull piece! This is my first saber, and I look forward to collect more :) I've added some detailed pictures in regards to the real/replica question. It looks like the bottom part is Parks and the clamp and top is original.

I tried my best with an iPhone 6, but the quality of the pictures could be better. Sorry about that.

I have bought a acrylic stand (also bought a stand for a obi saber that i've ordered from Roman)

Sadly I don't have any tools right now, so I'm not able to remove the D-ring at this point.

Cool saber! Also very pleased to see my blueprint framed like that! And my OB1 rendering as background image isn't it?
Roy

Great Piece and Display, very original; just in case you want to give it a clean you can use Turtle Wax Chrome Polish and rust remover.

I don't understand how I use the multi-quote option, so I have to do this manually:

jhlawicki: I agree! I definetly look alot better IRL. The pictures can't replicate the look properly. The natural weathering is very subtle as well. I'm going to do a TFA hilt so the weathering will be great for that!

roygilsing: The blueprints are awesome! It looks alot better off camera. I have both versions framed, but I could only fit one of them, and yes, that's your OB1 rendering! Lovely high-res picture :)

adiemilio: Thanks! I'm gonna leave it as is, but thanks for the tip!

click "multi-quote" you will see a CHECK apprear, click each post you want to quote with "multi-quote" then on your final post you want quoted, click multi-quote, then click quote right beside it, all the quotes will now be in the text box

I really enjoy this thread. How many different replicas are out there; Parks & Larbel, soon to be Romans, MR & Icons made the entire prop, any others? How do the replicas vary from each other?

For replica Graflex flashes there are also Graflex Reborn (GR) and Biskit. IIRC, most of the GR flashes didn't age very well and ended up rusting. I've never seen a Biskit flash. Just heard of them.

I have a Biskit (apparently) :lol

I got it on eBay a while back it's not 100% but I like it

I have a few original Graflex's so I've not needed to use it for anything yet, it may become an Darth Vader ROTJ at somepoint

@ adiemiIio ... I was not aware the Parks bottom interior is still brass ... I never opened up mine :facepalm ... so good to know this as an additional tell ...

I want to correct myself on this one before people go on rejecting authentic pieces, I just found this one in an auction, it is surely a vintage bottom, but the interior is brass... mmm... I guess since mine is an older version, later on they started adding less chrome.

Saw this same auction and thought of this thread. Thanks for clearing the air on this. I was surprised to see this flash was still up for grabs. There was even a price reduction.

Hey guys, I just picked up this Graflex. The seller stated it was 100% real Graflex parts, but of course I only found this thread after I purchased and received the saber. Here is a link to my facebook page that contains the pictures. Could anyone advise if I've been swindled? I posted it to the RPF facebook page, and they stated that it should smell like an old attic (which it does).

Thanks
