Graflex pin problem

I recently purchased a graflex hilt. I believe it is from TGS. The pins are sticking out too far. Is there a solution to this?

Is that the black cylinder that the pins attached to? On my Parks blade, it is recessed further down then my other hilt.View attachment 1279356

Yes you are correct, that is the blade holder

The blade holder sockets are much shallower in the pockets then a real graflex

I believe it’s because of the hole for the actual blade to slide in, not enough room to have the blade and the deep sockets

One last question. I mostly just looking for opinions. Romans props has a graflex blade holder. Do you guys think that would be compatible with a hilt from the graflex shop?

Actually, I may have the Gen 1 graflex. Is there any way I can know which version I have for sure?
Roman's Gen1 is different than any other maker's Gen1 -- the sync pin holes are closer to the front than is typical. There are other tells as well, and owning a couple of his I can tell the replica in your photos isn't from Roman.

I contacted TGS and they said it is one of there gen 1 hilts. They are also releasing a new blade holder at the end of April. Thanks for all your help!

My only hesitation is that I was able to buy the hilt for 120. I'm having a hard time wanting to spend 80 on just the blade holder. I know, I know, you get what you pay for, and quality don't come cheap!

Why didn't I think of that? The problem is, the pins aren't recessed down as far as they should be. That's why I'm looking for a new one. They stick out too far. Is it still sellable?

That’s your blade holder.. you can purchase short pins from a few different vendors

Someone else may want to purchase the shorter pins if they buy your blade holder from you. The shorter plug holes and shorter pins aren't accurate, but if you re-sell your current blade holder as a discount and maybe also provide a link with your sale to where the buyer can get shorter pins you might find a buyer to recoup a little money to go toward the new blade holder.
