Unlimited Run GOTG - Yet Another Star-Lord Helmet KIT

For those that keep asking, and haven't wanted to look through the info I keep mentioning that's on Facebook themselves, I've updated the first post with links and images regarding the Flanges I added, and the paints I used.

This isn't a build thread. Sorry guys. I'm assuming a certain level of ability if you're buying an unfinished kit. Or you can just have it professionally painted (like somebody I'm going to be very jealous of is doing).

Eventually I'll write up a painting guide. Currently I'm way too busy. WHEN I do that, I'll link it here. In the meantime, I'd appreciate a ceasfire on the asking for guides on how to paint it. Thanks!

Not to mention, there are plenty of other resources available on how to paint a Star-Lord helmet. It's really not that hard :confused

Fantastic looking helmet, by the way!

Hey all!

We had a prop gathering here in LA today, and I got a chance to talk to a couple of people thinking about helmets, as well as see Risu's eye kit in person (it's nice!). Risu says he's already printing up eyes for my helmet, so if you're considering that, it's already an option - I'd definitely jump on it.

I've also updated the thread to UNLIMITED run. I'll be making more of these helmets now that the original 10 are gone, but I'll be working in batches.

Unlike a lot of other members, I won't be filling a defined number of orders and then starting. Instead, once I get 3 or more orders in, I'll fulfill them as my schedule permits. That way hopefully nobody waits too long, but I don't have to kill myself doing these all the time.

So right now I'm taking the last orders to be filled before SDCC (in July, in 3 weeks). Get your order in before the end of this week, and I'll get it shipped by July 1. After that, I won't be casting any more until August!

Quick reminder: if you want a helmet before SDCC, TODAY is your last day to get an order in.

After that I won't have time to cast more until late July/Early August.

Finally Got a chance to shoot a few pictures of my finished helmet, I love it so crisp.
Thanks again MrRoboto,
AL

What kind of tape do you use? I'm not fond of blue painter's tape and I can never get frog tape to actually stay stuck to a surface.

I used Tamiya for all the masking on mine. But the Blue (3M) Tape for "delicate surfaces" (the roll is orange inside) with "edge lock" is pretty excellent, too. But nothing really beats the Tamiya stuff.

Steven thank you for making these avail. IMHO the best helmet out there. I used the risu 2 tier lens kit with my own micro string LEDs for the eyes and right side earpiece area. Love the clean lines and intricate details. Very very light clean up work. Beautiful casting. My helmet took great battle damaged from the USPS but my friend StarLordQuill helped guide me in putting this Humpty Dumpty back together. Making lemons into lemonade. 2015 D23 Expo was a madhouse and a great success. My 1st D23 and am looking forward to all future D23 events!!! Even the stars of the shows Fresh off the Boat and The Goldbergs went crazy over my costume. Wish my son could have been with me. My friend Bryan Lee as Captain EO and YouTuber Sean Long as Hawkeye. Credits goes to theRPF.

You're very welcome! And I'm glad you got it out back together!

But you should have said something about the damage - I insure these for a reason! If you have photos of the damage send them my way in a message, and I'll see if we can still file an insurance claim to offset the time you had to spend fixing it first.

EDIT: just realized from the photo that it got damaged in transit after your guy trimmed and primed it, so it wasn't my leg of the shipping. Wish I could have helped!

Hi Steven the damaged occurred when I sent this out to have work done on it e.g. cutting it in half, adding the magnets and cutting out the eye holes. It came in perfect from you FYI. Did not know you were friends with Bryan too.

BUMP

Plus updated first post to explain that I don't do these in "runs" - at least not the typical version. Once I have enough orders across all my kits (4-5 minimum, tracked via my STORE) I cast and ship them.

So if you're wondering when the next "run" will be - it's AS SOON AS PEOPLE ORDER ENOUGH.

I don't do a waiting list, and I don't have a minimum number per kit. It's enough casting across everything I sell, so the sooner you make an order, the sooner you're likely to get one (and I'm happy to accommodate special / rush orders when it's feasible).

Going to be casting and shipping a batch first week of November - so now is the time to get on the "list" if you're thinking about one.

I'm running a sale in my store for Black Friday (sale runs all weekend through Sunday) - 15% off everything, including these guys, using coupon code "BLACKF15" - www.soloroboto.com/store. And if you order this weekend, and make a note on your order, I will bust my ass to get them in the mail in time for the holidays!
