Good silver / chrome paint

I found this at walmart and though it might be useful for people who want some shiny parts to their costume, or other props for that matter. Krylon matte aluminum paint. Don't be fooled by the name, it's actually much shinier and more chrome like than their silver paint (wtf?). I laid it down as a base coat on a bio to see what it looked like. If the bio had had a smoother surface with no texture to it it would have been unbelievable. I could see my reflection quite clearly in the paint. it wasn't like a mirror, but for $3 who cares?

If you're looking for a decent, cheap chrome that is actually shiny and comes in a spray can, look no further. Krylon matte aluminum! Here's some pics for ya.

Oooh, nice find! Funny though, there's nothing "matte" or "alumminum" about it. Definitely looks much better than their silver/chrome jobs which has a tendency to come off on your hands even after its supposedly cured. Have you gone over it with a clear yet? On the silver/chrome metallics, it tends to muddy up the color and kill the shine. Looks to be some good stuff either way.

I know, it's totally not the colour I was expecting when I got it. I haven't hit it with a clear coat yet, as the bio immediately got weathered up on top of that, but I'm doing something else with it, and I'll let you know how it goes with the clear coat.

i really like Rustoleum silver. you get a pretty good finnish with that too.
