I know this method wouldn't work well for most props, C3-POs and such, but it may work out awesome for idols, and other small props that will mostly be on display. Another benefit is the glaze will be much more durable and shiny than any spray paint, and cheaper than electroplating. I'll let everyone on the boards know how my project turns out.
