Has anybosy identified these? You know, the ones they're wearing while blasting through the alien doors..

I seem to recall a discussion about them years ago being some type of Welder's Goggles or regular safety goggles with welder's lens added.

It would be cool to actually know for sure.

Here's some caps...

I don't think those are welder's lenses. Welding masks are pretty typically flat and darker. Those look tinted for sunshine... possibly for skiing or biking.

It's possible that it was something commercially available, or they could be custom made props, maybe not just used in the Cage.

They look kind of like Gadabout Goggles only with a white border added.

I was thinking the same thing, but couldn't confirm it b/c finding pictures from a movie called "Them"... well just put "them" into a search engine and see what comes up.

Look like vintage bubble goggles with an added padding strip around them. Search ebay for vintage bubble goggle and there is a pair that look close.

edit - if you search ebay and find the orange ones, note the grey strap on them.

If I'm not mistaken, those were designed for skiers and mountain climbers back in the day. No idea the manufacturer, but they look an aweful lot like a pair my aunt had when I was a kid, and she was an avid cross country skier.

Wearing them that way makes it harder for the goggles to get pulled off your head. I mean for the TV show obviously it just looks odd, yeah.

Why the heck are they wearing them under their ears?

'Cause it's the future?

Because taking them on and off in between takes messes up the hair! It's easier just to pull the goggles down around your neck and pull them up for the shot.

Horse jockeys also wear bubble goggles of similar shape/design. I also remember seeing race car drivers of the era wearing similar goggles.

I had a pair similar to those in the early 60's. I used for motorcycle riding. The yellow tint really lighten up everything. :lol

J :lol

Skydivers were using those in the 80's back when I was still jumping.

You might want to check that lead

These goggles were used in: Them!, War of the Worlds (George Pal), and Star Trek the cage.

I've been looking for these for years.

Went to "militaria show" once & I described them to a fellow selling lots of military goggles. He thought they were made by B&L for the army, but hadn't seen one in years (and this was a few years ago).

1 prop for 3 scifi films.

Hey, super noob here. I hope reviving an old thread is okay. I'm putting together a TOS Cage costume. It seems to me that the Paulson Bubble Goggles are a good base for this. I'm not sure how they did the white foam "frame", and the elastic color is different, but what do you guys think?

Hello all,

This pair is currently on eBay (U.S.) - Item 351812265532. They look very similar to the goggles used in The Cage.
Pricey though... I'd have to modify some Paulson's if it were my project...

Cheers!
