Here's another (grainy iphone) pic of the new sword:
It's a nice solidly built piece, but I plan on adding the channel in the 'egg' pommel part, weathering and a few other little tweaks.
One thing I have already done, the hilt is held together by a top screw and an inner screw - I have loosened the parts and readjusted the alignment to replicate the screen used sword set-up, as well as coat the leather parts with pecards dressing to loosen them up and give it a nice deep sheen.

Here's the latest progress shot.
I took a long close look at my decorative parts sculpt and realised it wasn't good enough, so I went back and redid the whole thing. It's much closer to the screen used prop now.
I also scrapped the idea of using the edge trim I had bought and opted instead to sculpt the edge trim. It's a much more solid piece this way and will be easier to mold:
I've also bought some great coloured brown leather to use for the straps today.

Cool cool. I picked up my David's Fastglass from my local Halfords. Although, the Halfords is behind my new workplace, so I could end up spending my life there!

No problem.
Here's my latest update and the shoulder armour is basically finished:
There are, I see, a few bits of the silver detailing that I need to retouch as my brush work has gone out a bit, but that's an easy fix. I should also add some light rusting in parts as per the pics of the screen used prop.
The top leather strap is also just temporarily fixed on, until I figure out how the shoulder attaches to the chest armour.
I'll give the shoulder a few days to properly dry before making a quick mold and producing a few copies in FG. In the meantime, the rather more ambitious chest armour is next! :confused

What did you use to get the card stock into the base shape? Did you just work with it till it looked right, or did you use your shoulder as a base in some way?

soz Al - weekdays are real busy for me
onyl time to play is on the weekends - I decided to tackle the gryphon 1st
after abt 4hrs work -
although I think I may have made it too thin for a nice casting - thoughts?
its certainly an improvement from the 1st prototype

I just found this thread and all I can say is WOW! :eek this shoulder piece looks AMAZING! Great work guys; it's amazing what you can do with the simplest of supplies! Keep up the great work and put me down for a shoulder piece...PM sent!

Looking fantastic Nate!
That was the first one out of the mold. Mold needed a slight tweak, I fixed that.
Member's shoulders will all be finished and shipped by next week (first batch going out Wednesday) and I'll have some pics of the body armour shell shortly after that.
