It has been a while since my last project (Shredder) and after some time and getting one of Sarednab's Dustin Hoffman Hooks I have decided to start the next.

Dustin Hoffman- Hook.

This will be a very long and slow build. It is a personal build and I have no deadlines I am trying to meet as I did with The Shredder.

I have patterns for most of the outfit as I do Historical Re-enactments for the Age of Exploration and the Golden Age of Piracy. I plan on making as much as I can. I may even make a smaller and more Con friendly version of the hook. ( I am a small guy in the first place... and metal can be frowned upon at some cons) I will be making the outfit out of linen and the coat out of red wool. I have secondary purposes to have it made from proper fabrics for the time period... as I said re-enactor. One thing I will be buying is the hat. I have a guy that makes tricornes. He is up for screen accurate. I have also bought foppish re-enactment shoes to modify accordingly (repainting the heels and sewing in a red satin tongue).

Today I came home to a package. My Fugawee shoes had arrived. For those that may be interested: This is the Anna model shoe. I got them for the heel and because they are made for ribbon closures like Hook's shoes. I will need to refinish the heels to a nice crimson red, sew a red satin lining into the tongue, and see if I can lengthen the tongue a bit.

As an update I found this while in a thrift store.... I think that it could make very good sleeve lace. I am also starting to set up the sewing area for this project.

So these came in yesterday... they are smaller than I was hoping but they bear a good resemblance to hooks buttons. I just need to get the top bead/button to secure them like in the detail picture of the screen used coat. Perhaps I will look for a larger diameter of these beads as well.

Found a larger size in the bead... fairly expensive, so I might make a cast of this one.... since it's the right size for the red justacorp coat.

Just ran across this thread while doing research for my own build. Love to know where you got the beads for the buttons.

Also working on getting some trim custom fabricated if you're interested... It won't be cheap, but I'm trying to get as close as possible, and there's a lot of dang trim...
Will be creating an interest thread soon.
