Ghostbusters movie by Paul Feig

this guy is an *******.

I kind of hope that when this thing comes out, we'll be vindicated (in that the only thing resembling the original is the logo).

I don't care if this makes me the biggest looser on the planet saying this. but this sentence right here pretty much sums up why he's helping to 'ruin the childhood'..
>>>Feig was originally approached to direct a sequel to “Ghostbusters” but says he couldn’t “get my head around” what to do with a sequel. It was only when it occurred to him that he could utilize the “funny, amazing” women he knows that the idea intrigued him>>>

In other words, 'let me do another movie I can put melllisa mcarthy in and hope people will love me for it, cause they hated it the last 3 times I did it...' You are a *********** ********** loser if you can't think of a plot line in a franchise that has had about 150 animated episodes, two movies, and about 200 issues of comic books written about it over the last 25 years. obviously, far more talented writers had NO problem coming up with fun, cool story lines to set in this universe. you just... .you just.....you just.....oh **** you. I'm getting turrets now just thinking about it....

add on... this was also supposedly twittered by the wife of Paul Feig...
'"Boy-Powered 'Ghostbusters' Planned Because Girls Can't Even Have One Series For Themselves."'

let the sexism begin. Thanks Feig!

I hope they realize this has nothing to do with an all female lead cast.

It has a lot to do with him making super mediocre movies in the past, not understanding the theme of Ghostbusters, and having one of the leads to go one of the most obnoxiously unfunny women in theater.

Just like NeilT said, this has nothing to do with sexism or whatever. Feig said it himself: he just couldn't get his head around what to do with a sequel. In very short and very simple words, Sony, that means HE'S THE WRONG GUY TO MAKE YOUR MOVIE. It's so obvious it hurts. THAT's why the internet is pissed at you, ass. And now he's having some sort of hissy fit about the "male-dominated" version... "Who knew there were so many ghosts to be busted in the world?" Really?

Male or female, that's not the problem, Sony just doesn't get this franchise and has no clue as to how to exploit it, hence the choice of the guy who exclusively makes movie starrring Melissa McCarthy.

EDIT: joshvanrad posted exactly my point while I was typing mine. So, yeah. :p

Yeah, it's really not about "all women" vs. "all men" and frankly, the decision to do one film for each is just....stupid. Deeply, deeply stupid. The real problem is that Sony went with a guy who decided to turn the franchise into a "really scary" film, and otherwise is just making his usual movie. By the same token, I'd be a disappointed if they picked Kevin Smith to make the film -- and I LIKE Kevin Smith. I just think he's not right for THIS franchise with his style of humor. And let's be honest, if it had been Smith, for example, we'd get exactly that: a Kevin Smith film with a Ghostbusters veneer. Lots of "richard" and fart jokes, references to pop culture, and probably a Jay and Silent Bob cameo. Like I said, I like his films quite a bit, but I don't think he'd be right for this.

For that matter, I don't think anyone is right for this. But it's pretty clear that Sony is hell bent on creating "A Franchise(R)" and this is the brand they've chosen to exploit. So far, they're doing a craptastic job of it.

Sadly the female cast movie is going to be very much like a Kevin smith movie i bet, tons of toilet humor and this all male cast will be a generic pg13 horror movie like every other movie out now.

I love that Feig's wife is complaining that "girls can't have one series to themselves". Has she forgotten that the whole thing is a remake to begin with?

I might use that! lol

I can't believe Feig is being such a cry baby about this. He had to know there would be backlash with what he is trying to do to something so loved. If he is surprised I think it only shows how out of his depth he is.

"Perspective: a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something;"

Because if anyone is a crybaby and out of their depth, it's NOT the actual misogynistic jerks who feel that Feig has ruined their child hood with a movie THEY HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN. If being out of his depth only means he's not abiding to what you and these misogynists want, good. At least Paul has his perspective down.
