Ghostbusters: Afterlife

I hope, at the least, the original cast that are left make an appearance. Like maybe they are training the new people or something.

I’ve been saying the “training a new crew” is a great option for a while now.

I think it should be set in a different city (Chicago or New Orleans) and the original cast are there setting up a new franchise, and training the new Ghostbusters.

It’s a perfect way to carry on the original story with original characters, while also setting up a new generation of films with new characters.

I feel like this is such an obvious route to take...it boggles my mind that it hasn’t been done already.

I somehow missed this even when I scrolled down twice!

So my buddy showed me this yesterday and right away I thought this was a fan made trailer

Now I’m really really surprised it was real

I loved everything about it! I’m
Dying to know if the car was CG or the real deal..

I have a gut feeling this is a barn of the old farm house ray stantz was born in..

I don’t recall stantz saying his house was an old farm house in the film. But dan aykroyd has gone on record many times saying he got the idea of ghostbusters because when he was young he lived in his family’s haunted farm house

Did anyone else get the feeling of the person in the barn being in a rush trying to get the old proton pack back up and running?

Probably a little tough with out egon... :(

Yeah sadly this film has come 10 years too late, for the whole cast to come back :( without egon its going to be bitter sweet... I hope they some how cameo him though... even if hes a ghost that just hangs around or something... I think it would be touching...

If you played or watched a play through of the ghostbusters game that came out a few years ago... thats a rough adaptation of what Dan Akroyed was writing for the original Ghostbusters 3... A handing of the batton to new crew.... Or to help open a franchise...

I know I come off as cynical and bitter and whatever, but...can these old franchises just be left alone? I mean yea, if it's a great movie it's great, I'm up for that, but even the second one was kinda weak, I'm pretty sure Bill Murray wants none of it, so it's probs gonna be Dan Aykroyd with some new people. Yay...the original was lightning in a bottle that really depended on the cast. Just so tired of seeing studios trying to capitalize on these once great movies and not taking any risk in anything new and exciting.

I'm really excited about this. Jason Reitman has done some great work on his own, and being the son of Ivan Reitman, the original director, he will have insight no one else would have.

While it will be a bummer not to have Egon, it's not a killer for me. They'll pay homage to Harold Ramis in some way, I feel. I have been an Aykroyd fan for such a long time, his cameo in the 2016 reboot is honestly my favorite part of the movie. I hope Ernie Hudson has a part, and I think if they dangled enough money in front of them, Bill Murray and Rick Moranis would come back, too. Annie Potts and Sigourney Weaver should have minor roles as well, but even if it's just Dan Aykroyd, I'd be totally OK with that.

I have a feeling Jason Reitman will be faithful to the originals, and has the chops to pull it off. Top must see movie of 2020 for me so far.

On the subject of Bill Murray, I wonder what changed his mind about allowing a Ghostbusters 3 to happen? Hasn't he, for the longest time, been the biggest hurdle to overcome in making a GB3 since he had veto rights over any script and he's been rejecting ideas/scripts for a long time now? Not that I'm complaining but I'm really curious how they managed to get Bill Murray's blessing, was it because it's being directed by Jason Reitman, the script/concept of this one actually appealed to him, the results of GB '16, or a combination of reasons? I'm really curious.

Probably nothing. I'm under the impression he would just never be IN a film using a Ghostbuster's script he didn't like. I strongly suspect he's not in this one. every time I've seen it brought up to him, he's been adamantly against participating in another ghost busters flick. I'm under no impression he owns the rights, so he can't keep them from making a "ghost busters film".

Do we have any confirmation that Bill Murray is involved in any capacity?

I've seen nothing about him participating. and honestly, Akroyed being in it at all is mostly speculation. He made a tweet about "if you need a tune up, you know who to call.", I assume mostly as reference to how his character was always the one under the hood.

I don’t know what Murray’s problem is... you know what he would do for the GB community if he did?

And how the hell does that make any sense if he’s saying he won’t show himself in any GB film he doesn’t expect?

... he was in that abortion we got in 2016...

I don’t get this man

I do hope it has a good story. Quite frankly I was disappointed with Ghostbusters II- any of the animated series episodes would have been better IMO.

I watched the GB16 was was left scratching my head- it seemed to be a bunch of disjointed bits strung together. A couple of funny lines but I think it will be most remembered for the stunt casting
