I saw that earlier today. What a rip off. And what are supposed to use for the rest of the costume? A white bed sheet? Nothing like creating a costume that can get one beat up by being mistaken as a member of the KKK. Good job Feig and Sony.

Don't forget to thank Obama!

Turn a cold shoulder to anything that has to do with Feigbusters while doing appearances......what a novel idea on your part. Except that we have been doing that for the past year. Nobody in our group is allowed to wear the reboot uniform with orange stripes. We ignore any discussions or answer questions about the reboot with 'No comment.' We take 'mini-breaks' whenever someone in reboot costume want to take a picture. We figured if they are dressed in reboot stuff, why would they want a picture with the old guys anyway. We got thrown out of a movie theater when someone called one of our heavier busters Melissa McCarthy and he took exception to it. A fight between our GB and the hecklers almost started. Say "who you gonna call to me" and I will walk away or ignore you because that line makes me want to punch you in the face. It goes on and on. Unfortunately, we are bound by annual commitments to make appearances this Halloween. Otherwise, we would skip it and lay low.

Sounds like you need to retire for good, go home and tend to that diaper rash you got there.

Nope. No butt hurt on our end. Haven't you heard? The anti reboot side won. Feigbusters is now on track to lose more than $75 million for Sony. Perhaps even up to $100 million. We will continue to spread the love and hate selectively. One fan or non-fan at a time.

And no. No reboot cosplayers are allowed in our franchise.

ever notice the pro crowd tend to favor insults?

And if it's not insults, it's weird off tangent arguments....
no generalization there ;o)

It's really quite fascinating to see where all this is trying to go. someone could write a psyche paper on it ;o).

Neil. How true. How true.

They lost. Plain and simple. They have nothing else to hang their heads high on. So the pro rebooters act like sore losers. It's not limited to here. It is in other GB FB and fan pages. The reboot is going to lose a lot of money and some are quite. Some are defiant. And some are in denial. And they all know that the loss for Sony will get bigger and bigger as Feigbusters is dropped from more movie theaters this weekend.

Umm... What? How does that work? If it stays in the theaters, assuming it sells enough tickets to cover the cost of just showing it, it reduces the loss. If it's pulled from theaters, how does that increase the loss exactly?

Okay arleady... The film didn't meet expectations. The studio and Feig responded badly to fan reservations about the reboot. Whatever. The hate for this film is just irrational. I saw it. I didn't hate it. While it definitely could (should?) have been better, it in no way diminishes my enthusiasm for the franchise. It certainly hasn't inspired my hate for Sony, Feig, or anyone who might have enjoyed the film at all (Reboot cosplayers not welcome? Really?). While it may not inspire much love, why all the hate? And before you respond, clearly I don't get it.

It's very sad that instead of simply ignoring the criticism and allowing it to just roll off their back, Sony and Feig set out to intentionally attack and demonize the original fan base and those who criticized the movie - bad move!

What's worse is that instead of owning up to the colossal failure they tried/failed to create, they further insulted the fans by labeling them as pure unadulterated sexist(s) because of the all female cast... paying no mind to the previous mentioned failure. Probably the single worst decision any PR dept ever made!

what amazes me is that no one ABOVE feig or pascal stepped in and said 'hey, insulting the audience isn't a great idea. don't do this'...

but, it's not the first itme i've seen creators insult, or go crazy on their audience, so it probably won't be the last.

the world would be alot nicer if people just ignored those they didn't get along with or didn't like. but in to day's culture, it's more interesting to engage them and egg them on for some reason. just look at some of the tweets shatner sends out ;o).

It is because the $70 million loss assumes that Feigbusters will meet the $225-$230 million goal. If it doesn't get there, the losses get bigger.

Isn't it possible to dislike a thing and not be antagonistic towards the people who do? I'm coming at this from the Marvel fandom, and I got a LOT of hate for liking Age Of Ultron and Black Widow's portrayal. It all seems extremely petty and nonsensical. Someone liking the reboot doesn't mean they hate the originals, and even if they DO how does that effect your enjoyment of the thing? Whereas you excluding reboot fans, insulting them, ignoring them and generally treating them like losers is going to A. Hurt their involvement in the franchise/ cosplay world as a whole and B. Completely ruin the movie for them.

It doesn't make any sense.

i like Age of Ultron and I think Black Widow is awesome.

Why exclude the pro rebooters? Because they started banning and censoring many anti rebooters from their GB Facebook pages and fan pages, even if the anti rebooters were behaving and had legitimate points to make. Call of getting even. Call it burying an embarrassment to the GB Fandom.

When you deal with alot of the fans who LIKE the reboot and they treat you a certain way because you DON'T? You're not even antagonistic, it just come straight out... how can that not effect how you see people who like the thing?

And it's not just here. it's EVERYWHERE. dare to say something against it...the insults come flying out. the mis direction talk comes flying out. the double answers with no straight answer comes flying out. I've seen it at least three times with people i know, and all over the place online. I've had to stop talking to some people simply because the level of insanity in the responses and misdirection is just bizarre...all because you dare to dislike a movie they see as a savior of the franchise.

On the rare occasions where I DON'T see this odd behavior, i'm not only quite frankly shocked, but I have to force myself to reign in my responses, because I'm not expecting rational thought. I see the other end of it so often, that it's a joy to see people who can treat it as either just a movie they like, or a movie they like because they are a fan of feig.
When I see calm rational responses like this from people, I go out of my way to THANK THEM for not insulting me or treating me like an invalid. I usually tend to divert the topic elsewhere so i don't ruin that good mood.

it's quite sad we''ve come to this, but here we are.

It's one reason why i'm trying to cut back on social media in general. there is just no discussing anymore. and my style of posts have changed because of it. I never used to be this combative, but sometimes you have to be just to try and get a point across...

We've explained things how many times in this thread? the same topics keep coming up, just because we have fun seeing a movie fail? No one goes off to create a pro ghostbusters thread so we bad apples won't ruin the fun? they just keep coming back to antagonize?

like i said, it's all quite interesting. but even i am getting tired of it. that could be a goal too...though. to get the detractors so worn out that the supporters can have a peaceful place .

again...

who knows....
that's how I've viewed things over the last two years. and it's not just feigbusters either. it's other topics as well.
I miss how the internet was even 4 years ago. it was alot saner.

Oh, okay. Just some accounting BS. It's not that the loss actually increases so much as it's greater than was projected, assuming certain earnings.

...and you don't understand how people could possibly see that as a rather immature thing to do? I'm referring to both the cosplay shenanigans AND aggressiveness towards people that don't mind the reboot after being banned on a few fan pages.

I know plenty of friends and fans that didn't care for GB16, but didn't receive any hate/backlash while discussing it. They express their thoughts in casual conversation-- mature, from adult to adult. It's typically the rather loud bad apples that have been spewing hate and vitriol since day one that get called out in a variety of venues. For example-- above. Everything from crazy conspiracies to name-calling to making fun of the physical appearance of the acting talent and everything in between. It's all in the two GB16 threads, and can sometimes look like a playground conversation between third graders.

Oh, okay. Just some accounting BS. It's not that the loss actually increases so much as it's greater than was projected, assuming certain earnings.
While I'm not an expert on Hollywood accounting or in the know on what sort of deals Sony has worked out on GB, I know that box office take isn't the only factor at play. There's also merch licensing, product placement, streaming/DVD/BR, broadcast rights, etc. Typically, angry fans aren't the best source for hard numbers on corporate entertainment franchises-- especially in this case.

It doesn't really make sense to write off the whole 2016 fandom based on what some people did, that is not adult logic. That's the logic that made jocks hate nerds and vice versa. And what did that ever help? It just makes school hell.

EVERYONE needs to stop playing this us V them game and stop making the fandom hell.

you try not too, but based on my personal experience, these are the kind of supporters I run into.

It's gotten to the point where I don't even want to think about ghostbusters for a full year after this whole mess is done and out of theaters

For me, personally, I came into GB through the 2016 ghostbusters. I don't know that much about the franchise, but I've gone back and watched the originals now, and they don't do it for me like the new one did. That's not an insult to them, they're classics and deserve respect.

I went to see it with a GB cosplayer friend who's been doing it for years, he ended up liking the movie and is still working on a reboot cosplay and helping me with mine. It's not an even split between original fans and reboot fans, it's a split between original fans who cant get along And reboot fans who can't get along.

of THAT there is no doubt. but, like i said, i've personally found pro reboot people to be combative, or condescending and i just found it's easier to avoid them totally. we'll never see eye to eye. if they arn't combative, i don't mind reading what they have to say, and will gladly leave them alone...but it's still best not to engage. I've been run through the ringer on this particular topic, and nothing good can really come up by bringing it up anymore. i only usually do outside of forums when i know it's someone who agrees with me. that just makes it more fun for me personally, to engage with people who are on the same wavelength.

others may very.
