I'm trying to remember how Bay Turtles one happened, but i've blocked it all from memory. did critics pan it, or love it before it made $430 million? Not being snarky here, i genuinely can't remember, and it might provide an interesting comparison to how feigbusters is going to do, both being 80s franchises.
Yeah, so it's NOT just me. I can't find any UK reviews either. Sony can't block the ENTIRE web from saying the truth.

Heh, I brought up the subject of feigbusters to the local amc guy and asked him if tickets are pre selling (wasn't really sure if a ticket taker would know). he seemed very cautious in answering the question before saying 'I'm sure they are selling some'...and when i brought up the fact that some theaters arn't even showing it, he said half hazardly that he's sure that comedic trio will do fine. he didn't seem to sure of himself there ;o).

man, do they still do E True Hollywood stories? if those shows where really true, all the little worms out of it would really be juicy.
But, here's my question. if they REEALLLLY don't want it to fail, shouldn't they be lying to us AND Kissing our butt? Why are they going to such lengths to try and **** off just about everyone BUT the activists? where they do untouchable things like charity events to try and appear good, or go on shows like ellen to promote it to their audience...yet then swear at people on twitter, go on twitter rants, tell people to **** off......say nerd culture is full of ********.....and the whole sedu? even if some of it was 'taken out of context' as back peddling stars like to say, the 'alternate' story would have spread and damage is done.
This is like the worse run case of bullies and braggarts trying to look good for their new girl friends mom, and doing a crappy job of trying to win her parents over.
not the best analogy, but best one i can think of.

As I remember it over 80 pages of discussion, promote, no. To do THREE films, yes.

The new proton packs have really grown on me. They look good when they are lit up. I didn't like them at first but we only saw them pre production and they looked flat. Lit up, they work for me.

I just checked my local reserved seating cinema, they have pre sold 5 seats for GB 2016. Ill check back on Thurs. They have a 7 and 10 showing.
The TMMT reboots did $493M (2014) and $219M(2016) Worldwide. I dont know if they played with the character formula or not as im not a TMMT guy and have not seen either.

Yeah it took a bit for me, mainly getting to see some in person and handle them gave me a lot more appreciation and especially learning the thinking behind the design. There's lots of imperfections and little differences that really convey that built in the garage feel Dan always talked about wanting. Main thing I still don't like is the wand cable coming out at the right shoulder, but probably had some ideas of trying to keep the cable from getting snagged on stuff, keeping it shorter etc.
I do wish they would have put in some kind of overheat function like in the video game cause in the film they're firing these things off left and right non-stop 3/4 of the film.

This not only makes me sad, but it makes me mad.
This could have been OUR force awakens. where, despite what you thought of the plot of the movie, there was still enough enjoyable in it to love it and pass it on to both sides of our next generation.
Instead, what do we get?
-An agenda from day one
- Sony splitting the fan base in half, even among casual viewers.
- Fans smelling something fishy from day one, and going on the offensive, knowing exactly what we'd get.
- Fans just happy to have something to look forward too and instantly on the defensive, not caring what was got.
- Sony CEO's, The Director, the cast, and pretty much everyone involved ignoring what we said back when it was still largely calm in reaction and later Insulting us, bullying us, and just plain F Bombing us with no regard. when it would be so much simpler to ignore the people giving them problems with a block.
- Sony staff taking their frustrations out on us when we warned them from day one.
When I look at those people up there, I think of all we went through as a community, and I know they can't be as happy as they'd WANT to be being there. the last year of arguing, friendships ruined, strained. lots and lots of doubt after trailers released. some probably wonder why they are even still there.
I think of ALL that, and then i see all the, LARGELY good will that The Force Awakens generated. and how much of a JOY it was to try and follow that movie without being spoiled. from seeing costumes and props again. to watching on set videos of practical explosions where you can feel the boom reverberate through your speakers and getting giddy. to seeing the video where the camera took you under the falcon and found a gribbly of the batmobile. ALL This put me in a GREAT mood right down to the red carpet and eventual release.
It's been a war with sony since day one. they screwed the pooch cause they don't care. they new we where right, but they didn't care (well, the ones calling the shots didn't).
And after a year of dealing with this in the turtles community, I'm quite frankly too downtrodden to care about another one so soon.
all it does is just make me sad at this point. it could have been great.. or at least fun with the old cast one more time. show other members in hollywood that it was ok to work with sony and dan and ivan and we could have started fresh with a new crew. we could have had real franchises.
instead, we get a man hating piece of crap.
what else is there to look forward to in hollywood if they treat the customer like crap?

Based on my local Arclight theater reserved seating for Thursday/Fri, it's not exactly a packed house.
A tiny handful so far. If it were a proper GB film, it would be sold out by now I'm certain.

I think its sad when the official GB Store doesnt have a single thing from the 2016 movie.
The down voting on the IMDB site is a childish thing if its coming from people who have not seen the movie. But if you look at the actual written reviews, its trending at about 6/10 despite the thousands of 1 stars.

The real proof will be the numbers this weekend. All the false/real reviews, ratings... it's the wallets that need to do the talking. Sony just wants to see the dollar signs and that will be the ultimate way to take the power away is not handing money over.
Seriously though.... a big franchise like Ghostbusters and seeing only 7 tickets sold in my area is REALLY bad. Usually big summer films sell pretty darn fast in pre-sell, at least for those big first showings.

Not necisarrily. Yes the film needs and wants older fans but this franchise is pretty old and they are likely banking on strong female McCarthy and Wiig fans to move this forward. And those fans are likely to just show up to the theater and not purchase advance tickets and bring their boyfriends or spouses and kids. Don't underestimate a non-vocal, not on forums constantly voicing opinions, women fans of the stars and directors previous work to put this at number one this weekend.
GB as a franchise reboot was very limited when compared to TFA. Even Transformers and TMNT have had a continued presence on tv or store shelves to keep the flame alive. GB was one great comedy and ne ok sequel. The franchise mathematics just aren't as strong.

I have spoke to a PR rep who works for Sony. He will not admit that they pay people for good reviews of movies, games, etc. But he DID admit that they pay people to write bad reviews of competing movies, games, etc. He said, "It's just how it works."
