General Doctor Who Props Discussion Thread

Re: General Doctor Who Props Discussion Thread, Discuss ANY DW Props Made by ANYONE!!

There are a few projects going on here and elsewhere to try and do a good duplication. Problem is that they now know what they're up against so they've been making the high demand props as hard to duplicate as possible so it weeds out all but the most determined and talented.

Oh, and I videoed another of the sonics in my collection, here you go: Greatwazoo42's Channel - YouTube

@Dorian Grey,

That earlier pic of McFly meeting the 10th Doctor is great!

Who knew that Halloween parties could end up hosting the meeting of two time travellers?

Cheers!

Re: General Doctor Who Props Discussion Thread, Discuss ANY DW Props Made by ANYONE!!

Has anyone made or got a replica of that walkie-Talkie thing the 11th Dr uses in his 1st Christmas special? Can't find any clear pictures of it anywhere! Equally does anyone have any to post along with info about it?

Re: General Doctor Who Props Discussion Thread, Discuss ANY DW Props Made by ANYONE!!

No one? I'd have thought someone may have a few links to pictures. Don't know if the walkie-talkie thing is in the current experience at Cardiff or not? Does anyone know?

Cheers :)

I'm still pretty flabbergasted that we are a full two seasons with Smith and still NO quality replica of his sonic.

Looks like the wait could soon be over judging from a Certain Twitter feed :love

This is the tenth screwdriver prop I use on screen. I know that it isn't exactly accurate, but it looks pretty convincing.View attachment 142796

Re: General Doctor Who Props Discussion Thread, Discuss ANY DW Props Made by ANYONE!!

These are the replicas of River Song's screwdriver that am going to use. They aren't fully painted yet, and are only made of carved wood, but they still look OK to me.

Re: General Doctor Who Props Discussion Thread, Discuss ANY DW Props Made by ANYONE!!

These are the replicas of young Captain Jack's vortex manipulator. Because he is young in this episode, I have made it in very light leather. It has a slightly different design too, as it is a previous model.

These are some modifications I made on the metal screwdriver Matt Smith sonic screwdriver. They include enlarging the emitter, (tissue paper,) permiating the handle, (black electric tape,) covering the ball-bearing hole, (inside of a chocolate bar wrapper,) and covering the screw hole, speaker grill and tab slit (double-sided tape). They make the sonic look far more screen accurate, and are extremely cheap.

Re: General Doctor Who Props Discussion Thread, Discuss ANY DW Props Made by ANYONE!!

Which one? The ninth/tenth wasn't , and neither was the eleventh. The eleventh is only some modifications, made on a metal toy. The vortex manipulator is made from leather, metal, string and plastic. Does that help?

Re: General Doctor Who Props Discussion Thread, Discuss ANY DW Props Made by ANYONE!!

Here are some more ones carved out of wood- for stunt only. I have some physic paper coming out soon.

My Etheric Beam Locators arrived the othervday (I am happy, but my bank balance is weeping!) I also have received the magazine advertisements that I also ordered.

In reality, an Etheric Beam Locator is actually a Varian Klystron VA220 and Varian Klystron VA221. Originally invented in the 1950s, the Varian Klystron VA220 and VA221 manufactured in the USA by Varian, and they were designed to operate in microwave relay systems.

VA- 220, Tube VA-220; Röhre VA- 220 ID35869, Reflex Klystron

VM Tubes: 3 - Klystrons

The Museum of Technology, the Great War and WWII"

Each model came in several variants, such as VA220A, VA220B, VA220C, VA220D, VA221A, VA221B, VA221C, VA221D, etc. The different letters represented different frequency ranges (for example, VA220A related to Frequency (mc) 7425-7750).

Here are some photos taken by the sellers (I'll eventually take some of my own):

EDIT - After I had originally typed this, it was brought to my attention that the Etheric Beam Locator re-appeared in episode 6 of The Talons of Weng Chiang, where it is more clearly visible, but I do not have a screenshot yet.
