OK, it has been done a few times before but rarely by a guy and as it is my first foray into costume building I thought I would step lightly.
The majority of the costume has already been sourced and bought to save time on a tight deadline with the focus being on custom making the long fall boots myself.
The aim is to make a set of boots that will support my weight at 12st, be wearable for a few hours at a time and be able to be quite resistant to damage.
As I come from an automotive background with laminating, metalworking and painting experience I am intending to build the boots out of fibreglass, line the back of the calf section with some spare EVA foam and use neoprene surf boots dyed white to form the shoe. The springs will be formed using steel bent to shape and painted black as per Maggies thread on here.
The deadline for the con that I am attending is Feb 15th and as it is my first con and costume, I am looking forward to it!
First off, the order of the day was to cast a mould of my legs and feet using mod roc/ plaster strips so that I can lay up fibreglass on to them at a later date

The plan is to make reusable moulds of my feet so that they can be reused for future builds.
Not a great deal to show for a start but with the plaster drying overnight, I'll move on to filling and flatting the inner A surface reading for casting in a day or two
