Game: Which Actor... ?

Yes, SloeDjinn got it! Well done... and you need to watch the rest of Monte Cristo! I love Jim... great actor! Just waiting for another season of Person of Interest to start...

So, SloeDjinn, you're up!

This "The Count of Monte Cristo" is one of those movies that, for one reason or another, I haven't been able to watch in entirety. Something always happens.

OK, on to my clues...

This actress played two different, ill-fated queens.

She also played the doomed mother of a doomed reporter.

Nope, not Ms Portman.
But you're warm - kinda/sorta.

I hope this one is a bit of a stumper, I've another clue that would be fun to use. Don't know why I didn't think of it before as I really like the movie.

Glenn Close?

Hamlet
Gertrude

The Lion in Winter (TV movie)
Eleanor of Aquitaine

The World According to Garp
Jenny Fields

She's not who I have in mind either, and she does almost fit. Eleanor did have a few difficult years, but she did outlive Henry and wasn't ill-fated enough to have faced trial and execution.

I know that Garp was a writer in the movie, but was he a reporter as well?

Reckon I get to use my other clue.

She was a twisted sister.

Nope, It's not Dame Judi. At least not who I have in mind.

However, if you can list roles which meet the first 3 clues, it's yours.

These are all movie roles.
Although easily searchable, I don't feel that stage performances are in the spirit of the game.

These are actually hints, but I wanted to use the spoiler box. :love

No matter the time of year, the first queen would never leave.
The other was widowed young.
For the third clue, in the end, she didn't get to the beach.
And finally, she was possessively obsessed.

I know the answer thanks to your last hints but I can't think of follow up if I'm right. Ok, here goes.

Bette Davis

Queen Elizabeth
Essex and Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth I
The Virgin Queen

Baby Jane Hudson
What ever happened to Baby Jane?

While it did hit my brain to use Bette Davis again (as she did quite a few movies), it's not her.

Notice that I stipulated "two different, ill-fated queens".

You can't exactly call Elizabeth I ill-fated. She sat that throne for a good many years.

If I'm thinking right, Bette Davis did play a reporter, but I can't think where she played the doomed mother of a doomed reporter.

Stay tuned, I'll post some more hints & clues later on. Unless someone gets it before then of course.

Miranda Richardson.
Two different, ill-fated queens:

1. Queen Mab, in "Merlin."

In the movie she plays an evil queen that is killed.

2. Queen Elspeth in "Snow White: Fairest of Them All."

In this movie she also plays an evil queen that is killed.

The doomed mother of a doomed reporter:
Ingrid Fleming, in "Damage."

In this movie, her son, a reporter, dies by accidently falling over a railing after seeing his father having an affair with his fiancee. His mother, Miranda Richardson, is devastated by the news of her son's death and the affair. She even questions if her husband ever loved her AND suggests he should have killed himself.

Hint #1: Twisted sister:
"Sleepy Hollow"

I did look at your spoiler hints and do not think this is the exact one; however, I believe she does fit the bill. AND I freely admit, it was only my love for Blackadder that got me thinking of a goofy queen which lead to two different doomed ones. Also, Miranda Richardson is awesome.

This is a tough call.
She does fairly well fit, and since I love her too, you've got it!:thumbsup

For those that want to keep trying to figure out who I meant...

As the 1st queen, she considered plebeian activities.
The 2nd was beset by her countrymen.
The reporter was her daughter.
And her "rescuers" used bizarre methods to "deliver" her.

In thinking up more hints & clues, I found I had forgotten that she played 3 different, ill-fated queens.

Of her numerous other roles...
She was one of several "strangers" on a train.
Was the mother of Wit.
It took decades for her to get a reply.

So Barryjoe, ask away!

Got it!

William Shatner.

"The Brothers Karamazov" Alexi

"Star Trek" James Tiberius Kirk

"Kingdom of the Spiders" Dr. Robert Hansen

You do what this means, don't you?
I get to see if I can stump the panel for another coupla days!

Thank ya!

Yeah, when I saw that pic I had to snag it, it was too good.

We could keep going on my last one. Excluding Miranda Richardson, of course.

Or, I could just do an easier one.
Hopefully this one will go a bit quicker...

He had a most unusual, tall, furry friend.
He was bewitched
He took a seaside holiday.
