There a few photos of replicas I found on Google, but I don't want to post them here since I don't know who they belong to; Most of the GQ screencaps on Google don't show the communicator in them... However, a blueprint of the Vox can be found here...

Not sure if the blueprints are the work of a member here or not, or they want the link removed, mods please do so.

I have seen the mini-plasmalites (battery powered)- Planning on a kit????
That would be cool . . . .

I've always been surprised that there weren't more props that came out of that movie. This one looks to be relatively simple and I would have thought it would have been done already. I have ZERO talent, but it looks like a pretty simple design, with ample room for electronics, or what ever in it.

actually I was planing on built up finished pieces. Im in contact with a few people who own original screen used pieces and am looking at the dimentions to see if its possible to fit the electronics package into the screen used or bumping it up a bit.and yes I have a source for the lightning lumini disks with a sound activated switch hopefuly it will fit without too much rework of the pattern.

I have the actual Vox prop and it is way too shallow for the mini plasma disks even if the diameter of the disk is cut down. I know I've tried this already.

I also own the custom plasma Lumin disk that was made for the movie scene in the transporter room with Tim Allen.

I'm working on hooking one up to a power source to show it working. Here's the disk I have (actually I have 3). It's 2.25" inches in diameter and would cost hundreds to have it made up special.

HOWEVER MSL, you go ahead & give it a shot, maybe you'll come up with something that's been overlooked by others. You might be able to fit the electronics in if you're willing to deviate a bit from the screen-accurate measurements. If it isn't possible to do it how you wanted, then redshirt's impending run can provide you with a super-screen-accurate replica. Win-win scenario imo.

NEVER give up - - - NEVER surrender. :D

I always thought it would be cool to use a lenticular animated insert to simulate the electricity movement.

You can get custom lenticular sheets made fairly cheap actually.

I was actually looking at using a pebble texture shower door glass piece and a 5 strand animated Electro-Luminescent wire behind that shaped into lightning arcs. Ultimately, it'd give the same effect and fits in the space.

And by all means if someone can fit those cool Mini plasma disks into the Vox, that would be the best thing. I should not have said it can't be done. RPF'ers don't take no for an answer and make things happen.

Thanks for the reminder Nexus6. I like your thinking. :)

And this is for sale for $2,351.00 dollars less in the RPF junkyard. Just add paint and assemble.
