Last week I was at the Science Fiction Museum here in Seattle to inspect a very special custom-made display case. This would house a model I designed and helped build, so I was there to double check everything.
I am proud to announce the Custom Replicas Galactica will be a centerpiece of Battlestar Galactica: The Exhibition at EMP-SFM in Seattle, Washington, USA. With most of the major pieces in this exhibit being from the new series, the 6-foot+ battlestar miniature will be the most significant item representing the original show.
The model arrived just yesterday. I helped deliver it and set it up in its new home (at least for the next 18 months). Since the room was fairly dark, it was difficult to take good pictures. Most pics taken with a flash wash out the detail, making it look like a ghost ship. A few pics turned out without a flash, however, showing the model more as it appears in person. (Special thanks to Alan Sinclair aka "Wizard of Flight" and Coby Lorang aka "Cobywan" for being our official photographers for the event.)
Still, most pictures really do not do it justice, so you will be amazed if you get to see one of these things in person. A completed battlestar miniature is a site to behold! The icing on the cake is when the internal lights are turned on. Wow!
A VIP Preview event will be held Friday, October 22, 2010. Glen Larson, Ronald D. Moore, Edward James Olmos, Richard Hatch, and other actors from the show are expected to be in attendance.
The exhibit opens to the public on October 23, 2010.
