:sick :sick :sick
That thing is hideous. Hero saber FTW

To be fair (to ROTJ) there is no "hero" saber in the movie. Vader never wears a saber on his belt AFAIK. In the fight scenes you might be able to freeze a frame where there's some kind of saber that look something like an MPP. But then there are also frames where the light is shooting out of the saber's rear and I haven't heard of too many people wanting to make that variation.

I can't stand the MPP - I'd never put one in my collection, even if it were the only saber available. So there's that. The other saber I'd never own is Luke's "hero" from ROTJ - grotesque. "stunt v2" is the only one for me.

The Graflex-based one makes perfect sense in terms of movie continuity, having been based on a design similar to the saber Anakin used to have prior to being struck down by Obi-Wan. That leaves two base styles for 4 or 5 sabers: graflex and grenade.

The Hero MPP from ESB was also used for ROTJ :)
and it's a beauty ;) :p

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... "Almost there..."

We don't get a good shot of Vaders waist in ROTJ, due to all the poor camera angles Marquand chose to use when shooting Vader. Hence, there are far too many shots (my opinion) where it seems like your looking up Vaders nose. Then, in the few shots, when we do see see Vaders waist, the lighting is poor or he's turned to where we can't see the saber on the belt. All the good photos I've seen of Vader, with his lightsaber on his belt, from ROTJ are from on set photos, which were probably taken for continuity.
All that being said.... should Roman choose to make an MPP, I'd buy at least 2.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... "Almost there..."

While I do absolutely agree that Roman deserves a break, it would be absolutely amazing to see an MPP replica come out of his shop, especially with all the hype Rogue One will be bringing to Vader. I think Rogue One could do to the MPP what TFA did to the Graflex.

We haven't seen Vader's saber yet in any trailers. I worry it will be the Graflex stunt from ROTJ, since everything out of Lucasfilm over the last handful of years seems to think tat is the official version. The R1 collectable figure of Vader uses the ESB hero instead of the ANH.

So I'm waiting to see just what he has...

(sorry for the derail!)

Cool cuz I love that saber and it would be nice to have it on screen for once!

Look what the Star Wars Identities exhibition of items from the Lucas Film archive (http://www.starwarsidentities.com) currently in London features on the Vader ROTJ belt:

I find it funny that people hate the Vader MOM but they absolutely love the V2. Aren't they basically the same thing? Worn out props made of a bunch of different parts, and more robust than their hero counterparts?

ohh yeah... An MPP that opens in the middle like a Graflex would be sweet!!... I hacked up an old MR FX saber to make an ESB Vader with a crystal reveal, it came out pretty sweet, but it could be so much better! :cool

I think that one difference is that the V2 WAS the Hero for a lot of people. It was used in closeups and as the belt saber and the "Hero" saber was created at the end of the shoot for a single closeup shot. Totally different set of circumstances as the MOM saber was barely even used in the film and presented originally as the ROTJ hero when it never was.

Wow really nice chassis. Is that your own custom job?

Thanks, yeah pretty much... I got the crystal chamber set up from ebay and built the chassis off that. Then did the wiring for the lights and sound myself with parts from the custom saber shop.

I know you are trying to help, but those links don't really belong here. This thread is dedicated to Roman's graflex replica.
