FYI to Snowtroopers who's dusters stink...

I figured how to "clean" mine without ruining the fleece material..I haven't seen this posted anywhere in my searches so I figured this would help..

Pretty much, get Woolite from a grocery store, fill up a bath tub with just enough water, either cold or just luke warm, not hot. While filling the tub, put about a cap full, if not just a little less of the woolite into the water.

From that, just take your duster and put it into the tub, making sure to get it completly submerged in the water. Let this sit for about an hour or 2.

The next part is what sucks...you gotta pull it out (it's gonna be heavy as heck) and proceed to wring out as much of the water as possible (going to take along time btw)

After that, just hang it up someplace for it to air dry. After that, it's clean and stink free! If you weathered it using the tea method, you'll see that the tub water has taken the amber color of the tea, but don't worry, it dosn't remove the weathering.

Hope this helps!

Cool !!!! i was wonder what i was going to do when the time came to clean it.....
of the drying part i was thinking of wring nuff to be able to put it in the washer and hit the dry cycle ( revolviing wring) and then hang it.
Thank man!!!

If your duster is made of fleece, DO NOT PUT IT IN THE DRYER!!! It will shrink beyond belief! There was a member that did that to his duster, and it shrunk down to fit a little kid, and he in fact did sell it to a younger, smaller guy!

This is why several of us in Norway uses HIGH Quality wool for our dusters on our Snowtroopers. Its far more expensive but the benefits are many.

Fleace is syntetic fibers and they absorb smell and it sticks to the fabric.

I think you might got your terms wrong. Fleace is not real wool atleast in the scandinavian countries we make a clear definission on fleace and wool we dress it on several layers in cold weather.

Oh I know the difference between fleece and wool, older navy unforms I used to wear were all wool.

I think the term your thinking of is the name of the brand cleaning material I suggested (woolite). It's meant for delicate clothes and such, and it works well for this purpose.

The issue is down here in Florida, it dosnt' get nearly cold enough to snow anywhere, so I'm baking whereever I'm trooping. Makes it worse is that I already naturally sweat in 50 degree weather and my duster becomes a wearable sponge. People think I'm crazy enough wearing a fleece duster, I might literally die of heat exhaustion if I had an all wool one.

Well if it is fleace and syntetic then it will not shrink unless. Another reason to not put syntetic fibers in dryer on high heat is that you ruin possible elastic fibers and it will lose it elasticity this is spesialy important for girls useing elastic pants or clothing that wants to keep it tight.

But if used on a lowe temperature it will work. But in general if it is all syntetic then it should not be a problem because the syntetic dryes allot faster since it does not absorb water in the fibers the same way.

Not nececarly. If it is dence syntetic fibers then it will not allow your body to let go of the swet and heat evaporation. Remeber wool was used in old time and on the battlefield as uniforms and clothing. I am sure with a good wool duster will in fact be better vs fleace that is dence.

Hmm, I guess that really depends on what temps you set it at. I've been told constantly in regards to this to never machine wash/dry it. Going back to the one example of the member's duster who shrunk. The whole duster is synthetic to my knowledge.

Whether or not it doesn't shrink, I really don't want to risk it lol

Maybe, I just remember the wook uniforms that I had to wear every so often would be extremely uncomfortable and very hot. Average temp down here is usually mid 80s to mid 90s as well.

Were the screen used dusters wool? I like the fleece because I feel it looks identical to the movie costumes.

Original appear to be a flease type so for accuracy to the little details your right.

Cool! I'm gonna be looking into getting another duster eventually, probably made of a lighter material that I can wash and dry by machine. I know when star wars weekends comes up again, that thing is gonna need a few washes lol

Hmm...I think I should make the sleeves alot longer as well as the skirt/flap thingy.
