Gone but not forgotten.
This started off in my "Lunchbox" thread but I wanted everyone to see this. :)

The case in question is a 25mm plastic ammo can, and I've found several suppliers on eBay and Google. :thumbsup (if the one in he pic looks upside down, that's just because it opens from both ends.)

They seem to be readily available from here-

Coleman's

Thanks to NavMidn, I couldn't have found them w/o his help and pics.

Cool. So I own a prop that I didn't even know I had. Thanks.

Great ain't it? :lol I love found props. One of my friends has a Cardassian Kanar bottle she keeps her dish soap in- she was tickled to death when I told her what it was- she originally just bought it because she thought it was cool looking. :D

I think these were used in 'Event Horizon' too.

Spot on Harry, they were used on Wing Commander as well.

Man, the gun shop I used to go to all the time had ton's of those years ago.
I knew I should have bought one.

Still see them at surplus stores occasionaly.

ammo cases are your friend..easy to find cause there are a lot of them out there.
The older types were metal. Surplus stores are fun to look at cause you never know what found "prop" item you will discover.

Looks like you will have a "Super sized" lunchbox

my ammo case arrived today... it's extrememly heavy ... and dirty.

kind of like they dug it up from the afganistan desert and sent it to the states...

i'll try to get some pics up tomorrow..

Got mine too. Had some remnants of fuel inside it. Whew.. Going to steam clean it out and sand off the markings.

Anyone have a good idea of how to sand off the markings without wrecking the case? Or what's the best way to primer/paint this plastic?

Wow, I'm late to the game on this one! You can still find these online for reasonable prices.
