Just out of curiosity, how well does this suit stand when compared to the 501st Legion CRL?

From what we have seen of the armour so far, it holds up extremely well to the CRL. You have to remember though that the CRL is more a general checklist of what the judges look for when clearing the costume. The onus is on you as the costumer/builder to add the details if you want to make it screen accurate and also to have it form a good fit on yourself. (The Anovos armour is by no means screen accurate, and they had access to the originals!)

This armor is looking freaking awesome. I'm so glad I came across this run when I did. Does anyone have a good place to get the under suit for this with the gaskets? I found a place that has good boots http://www.imperialboots.com/product/trooper7-boots-gloves/

Were putting some crazy hours into this but I hope you agree, it's worth it...

Here we are, back yoke has had quite a bit of shaping work done to make It more shoulder heavy and the O II detail more accurate...

Thanks Empire, no the 'over hang bit' is wrong on the photo you've posted. Mine is much closer to movie accurate. Also those two flappy bits if done that way can be incredibly weak but having it as one piece not only makes it a lot stronger but also gives the chest piece something to register to for a much better fit. So much so that I'd recommend connecting it to anyone who has done it that way on their own armor!
It's very important to work off of reference from the movie costume only and not off of other people's replicas as you only snowball any inaccuracy.

It's all coming together! Super excited for the finished project.

Just a quick side note on the yoke piece. There's an article which I have linked below, the first two pics are side on views of the FO Stormtrooper and Finn in his armour. The shoulder 'strap' armour (the bit just before the shoulder bell) has a bit of a cut out in the material. I believe this is to accommodate a small tab to make the shoulder bells 'float' otherwise they would sag down the arm. I can't find pics of the little tab at the moment, but it's definitely noticeable during the movie, specifically when we see Finn as he has just crash landed on Jakku. Look at his left shoulder when he is still strapped in his chair.

Now although it is screen accurate a lot of people have had problems with cracking in that area with their kits, so haven't bothered with it. (It seems Finn had the same problem if you zoom in close enough.)

I don't know if it's worth sacrificing a bit of accuracy for structural integrity. What do you guys think? How strong is the material in that area at present?

I have seen build threads where people have cut slots into it for the tab and straps for the bell instead of cutting the whole area out. One guy even used an aluminium plate to reinforce it lol. Would it be worth doing something like this?

It's all looking fantastic so far, I am personally easy either way. This is just something to think about I guess.

Im thinking I can reinforce the shoulder area enough with glass that we can keep that cut out area and make it accurate. It will be cast as one and then that cut out removed by myself in cleanup so I'll test the first one out and report to you guys whether or not you want it trimming or leaving full.

So are ya going with something that they did with Phasma? Have the Back,Yoke and chest piece all connected but the first chest piece as a dummy one for the main chest plate to sit on? Im happy either way! As long as its comfy to wear and you can sit in it! Thats the most important thing! I can sit in it and have a pizza?

Exactly! Hopefully to make the whole thing stronger. Eat pizza, wrestle a Wookiee, you'll be able to do whatever you need!

Hi, thank you very much, yes Ive began the detonator it's a separate piece and it plus the belt boxes will all be included.

well, one of the glorious things about working in fibreglass is when it's wrong, I can cut it up and do it again!
guess what I spent my Sunday reshaping...

Hey bigkilo, thank you. For the gaskets and undersuit we don't have any recommendations as although we know of a couple of places you can order them we haven't yet purchased our own so can't vouch for quality or accuracy of the finished items. If anyone hear reading this has got these items and can make a recommendation please do post here and feel free to add photos/web links etc in regards to this.

About as accurate as you can get.
Be wary of the sizes for this though. I'd say go a size up than what you are on the size chart. Some people have had problems, even to go as far as 2 up. I'm a medium and went 1 up, although the material is super stretchy and I can get it on without much fuss, the neck closure doesn't sit quite right. Luckily my neck seal covers it.

They do the gloves but are inaccurate I believe.

Gaskets:

There are quite a few options. The most screen accurate out there in my opinion is Imperial Gaskets by TK4205 over on the FISD forums
http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31348-howto-imperial-gasket-tutorial/ However lead time is quite long and very expensive. He does a cloth version too.

Jimmiroquai here on the RPF does shiny stretch vinyl versions. Which I have on the way as I ordered the helm from him too. His products are usually high quality and shipping is fast.
