Force Spirit Costume; Suggestions Invited

Hi everybody,

Been a while since I've been around. Since everybody's got Star Wars on the brain, I figured it was a good time to dust off an older idea for a Force Spirit costume.

So, I'm thinking of going with your standard Jedi outfit: robe, tabbards, tunic, sashes, all that. I guess some colors would have to be more muted (the robe and inner dickie would be darker, perhaps), while others would be much lighter, to the point of fading or translucence. I'm also thinking of adding LED lighting to achieve the glowing effect that was done using common stage lighting and black backgrounds in the old days of the films. I suppose some makeup would be in order, as well, perhaps some glitter in the hair and beard to reflect ambient lighting.

Do any Star Wars fans out there have some suggestions for how to pull this off? What fabrics I should use, or how I should wire myself up?

I did this several years ago at Celebration IV in LA. I misted the costume parts with aqua blue paint and shimmery metallic finish spray and also used similar makeup for my face and hair. I never did get around to lighting it up but I would love to revisit this costume at some point.

I was just talking to my wife and boys last night about how cool it would be to see a Force ghost costume. There's gotta be a way to project a blue glow all around you. No idea how, but it would be legit.
