A raygun is a raygun... Dr. Grordbort's infallible aether oscillators are
!RAYGUNS! straight from the mental furnace of Weta's Greg Broadmore but....

Icons and MR Han Solo Blasters, Phasers OS and Next Generation, PKDs and QMX Malcomb Reynolds', SD Studios Pulse Rifles and a screen-used firing Morita from a guy named Rock G.... I've owned a lot of Science Fiction weaponry.

But what I love about Weta's Dr. Grordbort's Rayguns line is that it is not just about the guns. They're sharing a whole alternate universe with us. One where scantily clad Moon Mistresses gambol amongst freakish Venusian critters, and daring hunters like Lord Cockswain are sometimes all that stand between us and a horde of invading Moonmen.

One of my favorite things they've done is the captured specimens line. The second piece from that line has debuted. You've got to see one of these in person to appreciate the level of detail the artisans at Weta put into these things.

Appalling limited batches. Very small and exclusive runs.

The detailing is fantastic, right down to the individual hairs on the bugs. I don't know how they did it, but it looks quite real with these critters.

We now return you to your regular discussion about lightsabers from a movie older than half the forum members here....

I have few problem whit this stuff...

One: I fear I will never see a movie from this source, even if I would love to!:(

Two: While I LOVE what I'vee seen so far from Dr. Grorbort, I think I feel more inspired to develop and make MY stuff instead of buying these wonderful artworks.
Probably just because it's right up my alley, don't know...

But again a wonderful work:)

Hmmm... the guns or the bugs?

I dig the line because they are attempting something that hasn't been done before. It's kind of like Salvadore Dali to me. Absurd... and yet cool.

Guns, bugs, specimen, the story... Everything.
Also, I think I wouldn't use the word "absurd" but just "way cool":D it has the right "flair" of a post-modern steampunk, or a very retro sci-fi, which I love:D

Actually, there's already talks of a feature film in the works.
I hope it goes somewhere...;)

Well, I guess most people need Hollywood to tell them what is cool.

Here's hoping Wellywood can do that for them as well.
