Foam related questions

So on several threads that i have seen so far, regarding foam builds of costumes such as Iron man and Spartan Armor i have some questions. (and i assumed that i could put it here)

1) Do i have to use floor foam mats like best step anti-fatigue or can i use craft foam sheets/foamies?
for example can i use this or can i use this?
2) is plasti-dip mandatory or can i just use several coats of glue+water? Stealth said that we could use just glue+water but some people say plasti-dip is pretty important.
3) Is it better to build the helmet Pepakura or Foam?

You don't have to use floor mats, but the Best Step mats are what most people seem to be using. I'd not recommend the 2mm craft sheet ones; If your foam is too thin it will be flimsy and not hold it's form.

Plasti-dip isn't mandatory. Some people use it because it's easy to apply and is fairly durable. Other people use glue. Some people use Rondo. It all depends on who you talk to as to what is best... but Plasti-dip isn't mandatory.

3) Is it better to build the helmet Pepakura or Foam?

Again.. Depends on who you talk to. Each has it's benefits/drawbacks.
