Foam G1 style Ravage.

Been kind of busy with real life lately, but I am back for a bit with some time on my hands so it is time for a new foam build.
I love Transformers, especially G1. And when I was growing up Soundwave was the best! I loved Ravage aswell. I never owned a Ravage when I was a kid but now I get to build one.
I spent 3 hours making templates and cutting foam and this is what I have so far. it is not perfect and I may actually redo it, I think it is too wide. But at the same time the more I look at it the more I like it. See what you guys think.
The teeth are just card put in the mouth for the photo's, the last pic is just a quick render of what it may look like painted.

Hey Jamie,
I was wondering where you have been lately.
Glad to see you doing well and back up building :)

Okay you got my attention. I love g1 and i love cats lol. I actually had ravage way back when, i had the newer release of him that came with Hound that was terrible. You're off to a really good start so far.

Thanks guys, it is good to be back. If all goes well with this build then Laserbeack is next, I had one of those when I was a kid, I got him at a yardsale he didn't have a head though but it was still cool. No way I could afford a new one so I made do with what I had. I am thinking of maybe doing a few foam G1 busts as well. We will see.

Well, after looking at the Ravage head a bit more I realised I didn't like it that much. So I made new templates and built a new head. This one is the same length, the same height, but I made it a lot narrower. And to be honest I think it looks way better. Here are some pictures.

Thank you. Here is a small update.
I have been working on Ravage's neck today, only about 2-3 hours work, it is slow going because I have to make the templates, which involves a lot of measuring and basically making the thing out of card which takes 2-3 tries sometimes and then once the templates are done then the foam work can start. Anyway here is part of the neck. The second pic shows the foam head compared to the actual pic I am working off.

Another update.
I have finished the neck, and just spent over an hour working on the template for the shoulder, it still needs a bit of tweaking but I will get it done.

It's looking wicked. I think i'm going to send this thread to my college buddy, he's got a bedroom in his house that's all G1 figures.

this is super sweet....i was just thinking about ravage 2 days ago. you know if you wanted to you could always "transform" the 1st ravage head into a cats lair from thunder cats!!! ThunderCats__Cats_Lair_stage_by_Kiwi_RGB.gif

Thanks.

I did another 2 1/2 hours today and here is what I have so far.

I built some of the back legs today, I messed up a bit, see the large gap in
the back of each one, it is not suppose to be that big. I could redo the legs or
try and cut foam to fit, but I figured I would add something else to it and give
it a bit of my own look to it.

So I got some empty till receipt rolls and made some hydraulic looking parts.

I cut the foam a little to fix the pieces in.

here is what I have.

man it would be sweet if you built molds for the pieces and cast it in plastic...then you could sell kits in the junkyard!!!! i know everyone would be down with that :ninja
