Fly Me To The Moon

I did a search but came up with no results. I’m surprised nobody has posted about this film. Has anyone gone to see it yet? I wasn’t planning on it because even before it was released it triggered the moon landing deniers with “Hollywood finally admitting the hoax” comments.

I had the same concerns , until I watched this review:
The pair are well known and respected in the UK as film reviewers .

I think it's an interesting take that validates the actual moon landing and the conspiracy theory. They filmed a fake version of the moon landing in case the real one didn't pan out. Both sides could technically be right... from a certain point of view.

SPOILER

A documentary it’s not. I don’t think they got anything technical right. Some of the stuff they were doing was laugh out loud worthy. The premise: They would film the fake moon walk “IN CASE” there were problems with the real mission. Then the evil government guy (Woody Harrelson) sabotages the LEM camera so they must use the staged and controlled footage. The Scarlett Johansson character’s conscience gets to her and she spills the beans to the NASA flight director (Channing Tatum), a Deke Slayton type character, right down to being grounded for AFIB. They send an engineer to “sneak” onto the launch pad 10 minutes before launch to repair the LEM camera with a part they pulled out of a color TV. The Evil government guy thinks they’re watching the fake footage until a CAT walks across the set and ruins the shot. He’s then grateful to Scarlett Johansson for the ruse and erases her criminal past so she can live happily ever after with Channing Tatum.

A ridiculous movie only worthy of FREE streaming… if then. The only saving grace was they showed some actual NASA launch footage that appeared to be remastered.

We are a curious bunch, us...humans;) Questions are to be answered: what's on the other side of the wall, or the Earth..?
Curiosity has a price of course and the space program is expensive. It answers some of our questions, but not all of course.

Finally got around to seeing it. While I'll admit most of the criticism is valid, it's a silly rom-com. Expect anything else and you'll be disappointed.

It was an entertaining movie.

I thought I was going to dread it.

Some cliche' stuff, but I didnt watch it expecting a documentary.

The love story gets a little wishy-washy.

If you want to go see something different, I'd recommend it. Tatum's hair and some of the overly-orange makeup was distracting.

That’s a good assessment. Even as a rom-com, Johansson and Tatum didn’t seem to have much on screen chemistry. It all seemed a bit forced.
