Re: First images of Hollywood Collectible Group's Aliens Marine PRODUCTION Pulse Rifl
Hey fellas, I decided to play around with a new weathering technique this afternoon. It's really quick and easy. It might sound a little weird but it WORKED!!
About seven miles from where I work, we have this place called the Old Bear open firing range. It is offset from any main roads by a gravel road that is approximately two and a half to three miles long. Since the firing range is the only thing down that road, there is little to never any traffic on the week days. Today was a perfect day to try this.
I arrived out there during my lunch break with my HCG pulsey in the SUV. Once taking a quick survey of the area, I soon realized that there would not be any heavy traffic down that gravel road. Fortunately, I always keep an assortment of ratcheting tie-downs and tow straps with me. It's a 4x4. Stuff happens.
Anyhoo, I secured one end of a tow strap to my draw-tight hitch, the other, through the carry handle of the pulsey. I took great care to pay out roughly eight feet or so in slack. (don't intend for this thing to bounce back into my rear glass, etc.)
Once I felt confident that the ends were secure, started the vehicle and slowly proceeded to drive down that gravel road. The first fifty yards or so, things went pretty smooth. But, then again, I never exceeded 5mph. After that, I began to increase my speed until the thing back there started bouncing a little. It wasn't too bad really. I was kind of glad that both sides were finally getting the finish work equally.
Pleasant surprise though. After about a mile to a mile and a half at about 20 mph, the shrouds finally gave and came apart beautifully.
There are only a few pieces missing at this point. I managed to back track and collect most of everything that fell off of it. Even found a dead snake. But most importantly, I've got a beautiful set of weathered shrouds now. Will try to take pictures later.
