Firefly - Wash's Dinosaurs?

Cera who?

:D

Wrong color, but otherwise spot on. Thanks, e-bay. Found this in a lot of 10 plastic dinosaurs.

Now I've just got to find a Walgreens with the stego...

And, in a continuing lucky streak, there it was.

Stego.

I also got one of the new Ceratosaurs, since they are so cheap and I was curious to compare it to the other.

Ceratalicious.

:)

Many thanks to those who started this thread, and got me looking.

I've been checking a few walgreens and there are usually only one or two dinosaurs, none of which are the right ones. The search continues.

I saw 2 more stago's (one in each color scheme) at K-mart last week. I didn't get them because I was low on cash, and I seem to find them, every time I look. I would still like to get the correct version of the other dino though, and one of those trees.

Ok, I tried a heat gun on my wrong, cretosaurus. It didn't do diddly. it still looks wrong. Any changes I make, it springs right back. So, how do you do the heat gun thing, to get it to look closer to ther corect cretosaurus.

Jason

i heated and bent it then ran it under freezing water to set it before it can go back.

I now have TWO Ceratos (one right, one wrong), and another on the way. The "right" one still needs to be airbrushed to match the one in the show, though.

My collection:

Stegosaurus, Book's "strawberry box", Ceratosaurus (correct version)
Screen-used Serenity bill, authentic Chinese dollar coins, philippes Mal pistol

I've gotta Jayne pistol that I'm still working on, and a few more things to add. :D

one of my friends found me a ceratosaurus. i haven't seen it yet, so i'm holding back my enthusiasm, but here's hoping. :)

Well, after the seller giving excuse after excuse (illnesses, hospital stays, etc.), the box of 95+ dinos finally arrived yesterday. Guess what? One was MISSING. Care to guess which one it was? Yep. The Ceratosaurus. :unsure

My wife thinks that someone who knew that we scored this auction contacted the seller after the fact and convinced her to sell them that ONE dino at a nice price before she shipped the remainder of the lot to us. Since I only posted about it here, it would seem logical that the most likely culprit is a fellow RPF member.

The seller claims that she "forgot to pack it and can't find it now". Uh huh. Yeah. Sure. Of ALL the dinos in that lot, the ONE she forgot to pack was the Ceratosaurus. :rolleyes

UPDATE:

So after finding a "correct" Cerato (thanks to a board member :cheers ) and finding a v.2 Cerato (brightly painted, straight left leg) at a local Walgreens, the seller from the eBay auction contacts us and offers to "find" another Cerato to send us to complete the sale. Since we already have 2 (1 correct one and 1 worng one), we agree. What can it hurt, right?

The dino arrived on Saturday and get this: It's the v.2 Cerato with the straight leg, BUT the leg isn't as straight as the one I bought at Walgreens and LOOKS like someone tried to heat and REBEND the leg... WTF?.? Is there THAT big of a secondary Ceratosaurus market? :lol I'm getting dinos from someone who bought them from someone else (RPF'er?) who bought it originally and tried to "fix it", but didn't like the result and eBayed it? The one I got at Walgreens has a "straight" left leg and can stand on its own. The one that just arrived has a "straight" left leg, but its bent to the inside, making it impossible for the dino to stand on its own.

Wow. Watch out, guys. :unsure

Wow, nice find on the strawberry box, where did you manage to find it?
[/b]

After searching a bit, my wife found one on eBay. After studying screencaps, we're convinced that it's correct, both in branding and in size. There are a lot of boxes out there that this company made that are too small or too large.

You should look for the "20 Elegantes" (quantity and size of the cigars originally sold in it) box. Might want to search for "Tony Borhani" and "Bahia" as well... The artificial strawberries are available at local craft shops (got mine at Hobby Lobby for $4.99/bag).

Good luck.

Yeah, not to get off topic here, but I saw a lot of 5 of those boxes on ebay a month, or two, ago. Only one of them was 100% match, the others were almost exactly the same, but they just had a slightly different color of wood. they sold for like $26. I passed on them, because I only need one, but now I'm kicking myself. :(

My wife bought ours from a lady who sells them to people who make PURSES out of them. Apparently "cigar box purses" are trendy somewhere... :unsure

I think ours was $9 + shipping, for what it's worth.

Has anyone identified the brontosaurus-looking dino in the pic above? (right below Wash's arm patch)

Is the one in front of Mal's right arm the Ceratosaurus?

And what is the dino in front of Mal's left hand? (not the Anklyosaurus, the other one that's standing up)
