Fire Spray 31 patrol and attack craft from Oovo IV prison

Hugely impressive work, really the first "Slave 1" body to have made it to anywhere near completion, and the fact that you've managed to get all the panel lines in shows how accurately the hull's shape has been replicated. Bravo.
Brave and admirable decision to go your own way with the "Firespray" version particularly given the demand to meet the exactness of the original model has yet to be done ,but I guess others are working towards that end. I like the open ended interpretation you can now give her, particularly with the paint work and underside. It will be an utterly unique piece.

Grrrr, super sassy, looks fantastic Michael. Oh regards the R2, maybe he meant a few parts from the MPC R2 kit? could be a few parts that would work in the skirt, like a homage....maybe I'm on the wrong hymn sheet though lol.

Michael, I have watched you build this ship from the start and think you have done a sweet job of it. I don't comment much because I know very little but I do love the OT ships. Slave 1 has always looked particularly unique from all the other ships in my eyes.
Keep it up.
John.

ralphee nailed my R2 concept. Since Star Wars hit the big screen, model makers have been using R2 as a greebly in their work.
this is an image of the mother-ship from Close Encounters:

It's a pretty cool idea IMHO. It's the little things you may not even notice that really give a model character... These artists used R2 to go a step further and give their work a sense of humor. :)

looks stunning mike, cant wait to to see you get this finished?

Me too guy!

Well this update will cover just the panel lines
which are finished some fiberglass work just
for reinforcement and primer......not much to
describe pics should work just fine here.

All panel lines plotted.....but before
scribing them I did a little reinforcement
with fiberglass down the tail seam and inside
the fenders.

Ready for scribing now.....

Ready for priming rub a dub dub.......a firespary in a tub! LOL
Well it's to big to hold and wet sand before I prime it so into
the tub it went!

Who doesn't like getting this stuff b the case!

I started working on the wings......

I noticed that the section where the pencil is pointing at
is totally inside the skirt. With the way i made the inside
of the wells I was not going to be able to do this, so I
cut half of them out. Mine jutted out too much (it was the
first time I got away from looking at the kit)

I took some of the wing parts from the kit and
had them scaled up as templates, some will need to be
built up on.

I started with this one first......

I broke down and bought a laser cutter to
make these flat parts! Even though it's
a cheaper model it worked fine for this!
If you have this model you will recognize it
right off the bat.

What are the details of the laser cutter you got?
I will have to buy a cheap Chinese one soon.

A laser cutter huh? Fancy stuff, how much did you pay if you don't mind me asking..? In fact how cheap can you actually buy laser cutters for?
