Ok, here's a photo where they've dyed the same leather base at three different levels of color. I'm thinking something in between the middle and dark one.



Also, I suspect the color is a bit washed out in the photo but of course it's hard to know.

none of those... original prototype color, or look at danny's run... those colors are way off

Honestly, yea, the original prototype color, unaltered, with different webbing, is the closest color match you've gotten. It could have been slightly warmer, but it had the right shade with the really subtle black distressing to it. Those new swatches are way too brown.

^^^^ I have to agree with @Gnar Gnar Jinn and crew. Yea, it does need to be a shade in between the middle and dark colors but that's a large scale in difference.

Whatever was done here on the 1st proto was on point and dang close to the original

Ok, I've already begun discussing what to do to take the good elements from the first and improve it. I think it will be using the original base color and just a slightly different distressing.

I really wish I could do it all myself, I'm sure I could get it perfect. Doing it all overseas through a language barrier isn't the best.

I don't know :/ I was hoping they would all be nearly done now, but with the struggles of getting the color right there will be some delay, and I don't know how long of a delay yet.

I know it may be a bit much to ask; but could we see the jacket with original base color with the improvements like you mentioned above before the disstressing is added? I would hate for both to be done to the jacket and the everyone say that it's to dark or whatever. May save some trouble down the line.

There won't be another sample jacket made, just sample pieces of leather until the color is right.

Ok, newest color attempt here. I think it's closer? As a note, I am not using this as a color reference:


It's weird indoor lighting and looks super yellow.

This has been my go-to reference for everything, since it was shot with (at least partially) outdoor lighting, and to me looks the most accurate after watching the movie:


Not that I'm saying it's an exact match. Just that there's a pretty big difference in the colors there and I'm going for the second, not the first.

So here's the photos I was sent this morning, you can see they're not all exactly consistent with each other thanks to lighting, but I'm just showing them to you how they came to me.





Still needs to be yellower I think. Not like the first picture in this post, but still not quite there.

Referring to the last picture of the post:

id say the chest pattern and the left of the chest pattern are by far the closest match yet.
its dang difficult to get an exact match I can imagine.

I wonder if the yellowing is the original color of the jacket that's showing through the dyed color. Almost like raw denim, it fades over time and the lightness will appear more on the areas with friction/wear

Almost like there was an uneven acetone wash was applied to a dyed leather

I think it's better, but still too dark. I agree it needs to be a little more yellow. I still think though that we should all be able to distress it to our own personal liking.

It's probably an easy thing to have a jacket made with no aging/distressing if people would prefer it, even on an individual basis.
