Is the vertical strap constructed in a way that either of these might work?

I am specifically wondering if the the backings will go underneath correctly.

the ones you have state they have an internal dimension of 35mm (or 1.378 inches). So what exactly is the strap width on the jacket?

Zlurpo gave me permission to post here; I haven't uploaded them yet, I still want to print a set at home to make sure they're perfect, but I'll be uploading a set to Shapeways soon that are made specifically to fit this jacket, and they're as accurate as you can get. My test print will tell me if I need to tweak anything to get them on. The chest and strap buckles will both go on without modifying the jacket at all, the two wrist buckles will require unstitching and replacing the original buckle.

Looking very nice. So chest badge 1 and 2, chest buckle, and two wrist strap buckles? Won't be able to afford all greeblie pieces right away, but hoping that I can piece most of them together by the time the jacket arrives.

Anyway you can design them so that they are more hollow (not so solid). And what about the aluminum option? Isn't that a cheaper metal?

Aluminum want available last time I used shapeways, but I just checked it out. It's more expensive than steel by about 3 times. If I had to guess, it's a cast metal off a wax print.

I'll edit the models tonight to remove a little bit of material from the insides. I didn't think of that because it wouldn't benefit me at all on my home printer. I might be able to drop the cost slightly. The wrist buckles are too thin to reduce though, so those will stay the same.

OK everybody, I hollowed them out best I could. It only brought down the price of the strong and flexible material a couple dollars overall, but it had a much bigger impact on the detail plastic and the stainless steel.

Yes, yesterday I emailed to ask when they'd be done and he said Nov. 25th. That's later than he originally said it would be, but there's nothing I can do about that now. But I would say the new run should start shipping by the beginning of December.

are these still for sale?

They are, but the custom sizing is closed. However the new run will have sizing from S to XXL.

I just got the plastic chest parts. I debated getting the metal but felt that the plastic would be just as good for my purposes. I opted not to get the buckles as I not sure i want to detach the the straps... at least not yet. Maybe in the future.
