I finally finished my stein. It's difficult to see in the pics, but it is weathered and worn. This was from sanding the stein completely then soaking it in a tea/coffee mix and pulling out to dry multiple times over a 5 day stretch. I tried shoe polish but I was never happy with the result.

I love it! Everything but the cracks which I didn't like on the original prop either. Worn I get.....cracked to the point where it's no longer water tight...not so much. But other than that the weathering job is superb.

Did you re-glaze it? IE: Is it usable? If I can't swill beer out of mine then it won't cut the mustard.

I did not re-glaze it, but the inside should still be fine, so without the weathering it would still be usable.

Very cool!

I love the work you did on this, and you also have a very nice collection:cool:thumbsup

Thanks and thanks!

Was the crack drawn in? I would be proud to drink out of it if that's the case. NICE weathering job.

Yes, the crack was drawn on, and thanks.

From a PM:

What did you sand the mug with?

150 grit sandpaper.

How hard was it? Did you remove the existing decals that were on it?

Well, not to hard but it took about 45 minutes just to remove the emblem.

How did you get the glaze back?

No glaze.

What kind of decals are yours, water slide?

They are basically a dry ink base printed on clear decal vinyl. I have tested them on my coffee mug and run them through the dishwasher 5 times so far and they are still holding up just fine. I'm working on a new project with them - COMING SOON!

On a scale of one to ten, how difficult a project was it?

Not really hard at all. Honestly, if I were to do another for myself, I would not weather it as so I can use it as a drinking stein.
