FINISHED - 1:1 TFA Captain America Display

Re: 1:1 TFA Captain America Display (NEW Pics 12-28-2011!!! & HULK SMASH!!!!)

Rich (Fettster) said it was cool to go ahead and show off his work thus far. He still has some tweaking to do on this over the next couple weeks, but as I said it looks like it is really starting to come together.

Re: 1:1 TFA Captain America Display (NEW PICS of CAP BUST WIP!!!)

where did you get that jacket from ? :p

Yeah, the suit came in today and was a bit smaller than I had expected, so I was not able to use that mannequin for this project.

The good news is, I had a smaller one in storage that worked (barely). After I make some adjustments such as paint the star, tweak the helmet, leather polish the belt, boots, straps & face mask the same color and get the shield in.

At that point I will only need to finish the stand and get the finished bust.

In the meantime here are a couple of pics.

He purchases from another member who purchased from eBay and modded
Sure thing, it was this costume I purchased:
Captain America: The First Avenger Steve Rogers Costume Jacket Pants Bags Cotton | eBay

I got the boots from a friend over the the LOH boards.

As far as customization, I added snaps around the waist line so I can tightly fit the white undershirt (which has a short torso) to the slacks. Secondly, We added elastic straps to the sleeve cuffs so they wouldnt bunch up under the gloves. I added a urethane star, added velcro to the belt to keep it exactly in place where I wanted it. After those customizations, it was time to get the suit filthy. I have a fire pit in the back, so most of the dirty look comes from ash and burnt wood to add lots of black lines. Added some red dirt, but not too much, the ash was absolutely perfect in my opinion. Thats really about all I did

This is not the real deal, it is a cosplay suit that has been modified.

I saw the UD suits too. I planned to buy one but when I saw I had the opportunity to scoop this bad boy up I jumped on it.

I really like the UD stuff though. I actually want to buy the boots, gloves and belt if he makes those available to buy without having to buy the full suit. I think that would take this suit to an even higher level.

Re: 1:1 TFA Captain America Display (NEW PICS of CAP BUST WIP!!!)

here are some more pics of the bust. Fettster will start the moulding process any day now.

Here is one with some photoshopped hair, so you can see how accurate it really is.

Update:

The bust is made and will be painted soon, but here is a pic of it with the helmet on.

Once I get the chin strap shortened I think it will really look sharp.

Re: 1:1 TFA Captain America Display - 95% finished

Bust turned out awesome, but the helmet looks too big IMO. Supposed to be a very skin tight look.

Yeah, I will probably end up getting a more screen accurate helmet down the road when I get the funds, but this one will have to do for now.

My pocket book is stretched thin at the moment with the Thor build and the comic version Cap build but if the run on these busts go well I'll have enough money to really nail the helmet and do the bust justice.

Re: 1:1 TFA Captain America Display - 95% finished

The way the hard resin helmets fits onto the head, it would be impossible to make it look fitted onto a mannequin bust without scratching or possibly damaging the bust. The urethane helmet that Finhead's working on may be your best bet thus far but since it's sized for about a 23" head, it may still be too big for that bust. My head is about 23"-23.5" and your old helmet fits me well, definitely a better fit on me than on that Evans bust, so not sure if that bust is too small for the helmets out there, either available or in production.

Personally I think it looks ok, but then again if you're chasing perfection...

I agree that it looks "good enough", but I think another helmet may get closer... So I'm thinking it over.

Maybe the paint job on the bust will hide the size difference a bit. Should know in a few days if it does.

Re: 1:1 TFA Captain America Display - 95% finished

A simple fix could be just adding more of the leather liner around the entire eye opening, closing off that gap a bit.

New pics- I am buying Finhead's lid also, but I think this looks pretty good

Let me know what you think of the bust (other than the straps need to be tighter)
