Fine molds Falcon Death Star hanger WIP

Here is an Update! I finally broke down and took a knife to my Fine Molds Falcon. It was scary but I think worth it in the end. I removed the front landing gear bays and re-plated. It was just driving me crazy seeing the wrong falcon in the dio. It took about 5 hours to modify since I was being very careful with the fully built falcon.

Enjoy!

Here is another small update. I have now installed lighting in the ceiling of the hanger bay. I also upgraded the radar dish on the falcon using a trimmed down dish from an MPC falcon kit. I had to add the "ladder" details and find a new "cone." I think it really help add to the "New Hope" look I am after. The first shot is of what could be Darth Vader's Tie hanger above or below the existing hanger dio....I just don't know if I am going to add it or not.

Enjoy, thanks for looking!

Thats stunning you should be proud!
I love the early shots without the figures,
myself it has a sterile Imperial ..........yet peaceful
Star Wars feel to it, to see the falcon
sitting in the bay! Great job all around
on this!:love:thumbsup

Here are some more pictures of progress on the ceiling. I am adding some trusses in red oxide primer to give the look of the death star construction in Jedi. The darn Plastistruct trusses are expensive. I will have $80 just in trusses for the ceiling alone. Most of the recessed "can" lighting is done, just a few more to fasten down. The lighting is from a 100 ct. LED Christmas light set.

Looking cool! Glad to see you still plugging away on it. The ceiling is really taking shape. I hear you on the trusses... they work wonderful, but man are they pricey. Looks great. Cutting off the gear boxes was a great (and brave) touch...

Love the tie bay, too. Always a fan of those... :thumbsup

This is amazing. Thanks for sharing this with us! I have always wanted to build a deathstar diorama, and this really gives me something to aspire to.

Wonderful job. It's more than just a diorama; it's a well thought out and constructed architectural model. The design with the Tie fighter's hanger really works well. Beautiful.

Stuck at home with the Kids I did a mock up of how I would like to see it look. Enjoy!
