Fifth Element - Zorg ZF-1 Pod gun completed NEW PICS Post #17

Re: Fifth Element - Zorg ZF-1 Pod gun completed NEW PICS PG.2

Unless I have missed it Zorg didn't say what the built is based on and until you mentioned a kit one could as well have assumed that this was a custom build. So, there are kits of the ZF-1 out there or was this one of a kind? Where did it come from and did anyone make a run of it (if it's okay to share these informations)?

It came from me, and I did offer a couple of kits.

So are you saying that as long as it's not offered right now, it's ok to recast? I'm not going to participate (any further :lol ) in turning this thread into a recasting discussion, as I think Zorg did a great job doing this build up, and showing it off is what this is all about. It just makes me sad that the knee jerk reaction of a member is to ask for a recast. I find that to be in poor taste, even if the kit did not originate from me.

I obviously must have missed that :unsure

Nope, not at all. All I wanted to say is that the person asking for a casting might not have been aware that this wasn't a custom build. I for one was just curious to hear about a kit, that's all.

Mr M, I gotta say, I read Funky Jedi's comment as no different as saying, "Thats sooooo good, I'm gonna break into your house and steal it". What you are inferring might not necessarily be what you're saying, if you get what I'm saying!:lol It would've been a little less knee jerk on your behalf to say that you had built it and therefore is a no no on the old recasting issue, I don't think there was any malice or aforethought in the comment.
Just my two cents....

Johnny

P.s zorg, thats sooo good! I'm gonna break into your house and steal it:lol

can we keep this thread on topic please......thanks

matt- thanks for your comments on the finish of the piece.

i had to restrain myself from doing panel line shading and weathering
as this is the look of the production pieces i had to leave it "clean"

i would really like to have or see a beat up grubby battle worn version.

I realize that this is a fairly old thread, but since it's been bumped up, anyway - Matt, did you ever offer a 2 piece (top and bottom) version? I always thought the hardest part of this is the outer shell and since you already made one, I was wondering if anyone had done a full conversion?

Nope, I never offered an open version. My thought was that if I took a pod, cut it up and cleaned it up as an open version, I would need to remold those parts to sell kits. I decided it was a bad choice to add another generation to the piece.

However, the process of converting the pod to the open version is actually pretty darn simple. You can do it with a coping saw in under 30 minutes.

Go ahead... ask me how I know :lol

You dare me to ask and then leave without postic a pic? You're a cruel, cruel man, Mr. Munson :lol.

I'm wondering if the internals can be done in styrene and painted to look like metal. Saves on material and machining costs.

Would definitely be an intersting prop to attempt. Oh, if I only had some monies :cry :lol
