Fifth Element - WHAT DOES EARTH DO?!

Hey all,
I'm doing a "Leeloo" themed computer and I'm going to have sections inside for each element, there are the colors for each element, and I wanted to have small panels light up with the words for each element in turn: you know, rain falls, fire burns, wind blows, earth..... well.

Having spent some time considering it I think I've found out why the filmmakers left that one out, because really what the hell does earth do? And what short English word that fits with the others could possibly both describe what earth does AND give some kind of vague information on how to open it's stone? :confused

Anyway, I have to come up with something and I'm hoping some external input will be the key. Here are the current contenders and I'd LOVE to hear suggestions and/or preferences.

-rain falls
-wind blows
-fire burns
-earth... bears
... struts
... stays
... keeps

I'm not in love with any of them, and a good bit of time on thesaurus.com didnt help too much. I can see the discussion:

"Okay, we've got rain falling, wind blowing and fire burning, what does Earth do Luc?"

"Wh....it...blows, no...falls...holds? ...crap."

"Lets just leave it out, nobody will ever notice"

Thanks in advance to anyone who spends time thinking about this one!

I like this:

Rain Falls (Water)
Fire Burns (Fire)
Wind Blows (Air)
Ground Shakes (Earth)
Love Learns (Spirit)

Found it on some random site but not sure how ground shaking plays into the 5th Element setup. ^_^;;

Earth Binds. It is the agent that could bind them all. That even plays into LOTR, as the Volcano and material that the One Ring was forged from, was of the Earth.

You bind Fire with Earth and you get Metal and Lava, Bind Air with Earth and you get Sandstorms, and Tornados, bind Water with Earth and you get Mud, and Clay. All useful to civilization. Yes, Sandstorms and Tornados are important, as they Spread Plant Seeds, and Pollens, AND make people figure out how to build better and stronger to withstand the Elements. So, Earth Binds.

Earth-

destructive: earthquakes, landslides, buries, erupts

non-destructive: gives stability, gives the medium for plants to grow, gives protection to all it's life (gravity, magnetic fields), provides the materials for technology and life.

Earth stains clothes, but can be removed with Tide®, with Stainfighter technology!

"Earth changes their name to Black Sabbath and go on to become one of the most famous rock bands in history, inventing the genre of Heavy Metal in the process"?

Earth grinds, stone against stone, making soil, it processes, in the film they let sand fall on the earth idol, it's abrasion, friction, kinetic, planetary sex. :)
