Fifth Element Korben gun holster?

Well I've been on a "Fifth Element" kick, and plan on making it my Halloween project. I just decided to go ahead and buy the blaster, and its nice. However, I think they could have added some sound, and some metal parts, but its cool.

The thing that gets me, is in the movie, the gun just appear's! The only time it shows up from behind his back, is when the diva is shot. Even then there is no visible holster on him. Maybe I'm just being a little picky, but with all the detail involved in this movie, you would think they would have something! Either way I'm gonna make or find something to hold the gun securely, it cost too much just put in the back of my pants. Any ideas on something that would work best?

I've actually been wanting to make one of those for the longest time, but I'd need some better shots of it. I think I heard once that Matt Munson owned the screen used piece, is that true?

Screenused.com had a holster up for sale, here's the pics.

Any decent shots of the gun inside the holster? Did the circular discs on the gun line up with the circle cut in the leather?

Well I got my gun out of the box to take some measurements to make a pattern
for a gun holster. Then I noticed the batteries are dead! Looks like they solved that
little battery draining issue!

Shame! Shame! HGC!

Yea.... That seams to be a growing trend!

I called them on the phone telling them what was going on, and the guy I talked to said that he thought they solved that problem. Says he checked it before it was shipped to make sure it was o.k. I told him I would fix it myself, but I'm not to fond of the idea of cracking this open. He said it could not be takin apart, and to send an email to them to see if they could fix the problem......so we''ll see!

Well I got a reply to my email!

They said they would send me a new one if!!!!
I smashed mine, and sent a pic for proof...

I need a blaster for Halloween, so I hate to destroy it, before I get a replacement. That and how do I know for sure they will replace it? Most importantly, I don't think I have the heart too! It's like running over a baby kitten!

Smash it and send me the pieces so I can glue it back together. :lol

They really asked you to smash it? Dang. Maybe you should try some fresh batteries to make sure it wasn't just old batteries or something first.

Well it worked fine, with brite leds when I got it Wednesday. Now it barely lights up. I mean I could realistically put a tiny switch between the battery wires, and fix the problem. But, I shouldn't have to do that.

It is one hell of a way to see it I'm bluffing! I know iy could come apart, but its pretty solid!

Well I know its not rocket science, and I can see how their method makes sense to them. But I'm not going to smash the gun. That's just stupid! I'm just going to offer to ship it back ( at their cost ) for a replacement, or ship another. I've tried to logically think of how I could destroy, and repair the gun, but its not worth it.

So, if they want you to smash the gun, why not try opening it first and repairing the problem yourself? If you fail, it wouldn't take much more to render it into pieces for a pic to get a new one...

There was a walk-through on here about how to open the gun. I believe it was in a review thread for the piece.

Yea the pics are gone from that tread, but Im pretty sure I could get it apart. However, their exact words were "smash it with a hammer" so that does'nt leave much room for repair. Although I would try!

I just plan on using it for Halloween costume contests, than afterwards, smash it, and send pics. They said it is a part of the copyright of producing the item, by only having 1000, so they can't have any stray's. I'll just go with it! Get a new one, and put on dispaly

Well I just wanted to update, that after Halloween, I smashed the gun, and sent pics. I recieved an email the same day, and got a replacement today. So, I thought that was pretty cool of HGC. They were quick to fix the problem.

But I did manage to get it apart first, and figured out what holds this puppy together, amongst other things. But, that's a whole new thread. So when I get a chance I'll post some pics of a tear down, sense the other pics are down.

Just how good a value is this thing for the $250 plus p&p they are asking? Is it really screen accurate or does someone on the RPF make a better one? I know they still have them on the website.

Also if one is not meant to take it aaprt how is one supposed to recharge/replace the battery when it dies?

A bit like my car remote. It is not designed to have its battery replaced. One is supposed to toss it and buy a new one. Of course it has been replaced a couple of times. They then try to charge you a fee to match the new remote to the car's black box when the procedure is in the car's user manual.
