I have been a fan of theRPF forum for quite some time, but this is my first post as I just joined today.

For Halloween this year we decided to do Fido, so off to the shop I went.

My goal was to create the Zomcon collar as close to screen accurate as possible, given the tools and materials at hand. I had about 4 weeks to plan the construction and study screen captures and consider construction methods. I only had about 2 and a half weeks to construct it. My day job occasionally gets in the way.

I was able to find a great picture of the collar that claims to be screen used.
Billy Connolly's Hero Zombie Collar original / screen-used movie props from Fido (2006)

This collar looks great, I wish I had time to do the kind of weathering this collar has. Comparing this collar to the screen used one, I was unable to find any frames in the movie that had the allen head screws on the upper ridge. I used this as my key reference photo.

Here's a picture of my finished collar. IMG_0627.JPG

Major Update! I have wanted to remake the Fido Collar. The original one I made out of Resin was very heavy, and took a long time to make. I picked up a 3D printer, and figured this would be a great project for it. A bunch of us are going to Salem this Halloween as a Zomcon Zombie horde, so the printer is currently cranking out copies of the collar. I should have a couple done this week. If you would like to build our own, I have posted the components on Thiniverse.com.http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:999844
If you do wind up printing/building one please let me know, I would love some feedback!
