Very cool, what type of paint are you going to use, I was thinking of the antique polish stuff you can get at michaels, they have a very nice brown gold finish
cool, which box exactly did you pick up, it may be that im tired but i cant seem to find it
Im not sure about the splotchy effect, but a copper base with brown and weathered with acitone sounds perfect! I was wondering if anyone is actually working on the metal insert plate with engravings and cutouts? If so I think I might do a build!
My wife just spotted a compass set at walmart that had a similar box. It's great when she keeps a look out for prop stuff :love Going to check it out to see if it might be a cheaper alternative for the budget minded.
Not sure about the engravings and cutouts.
I could easily do the cutouts for the knob holes/lights, TV screen by hand...The speaker slots might be a bit tricky.
Also need to find the correct font for the Farnsworth text....I looked for awhile last night and found some which are similar, but not exact.
There's one called Ballpark Script, which has the correct "F" but the rest of the letters are more rounded than the actual text.

I have access to a laser engraver, its ususally used for wood engraving, but ive used it on acrylic and styrene. Not sure it would do brass, but they sell styrene with gold chrome over it, so I may try that. Once i get my case in and can get exact inner dimensions and shape, i can certainly do up a few extras.
Thats what ive been posting the faceplate ive been working on forI ended up having to fake the "F" in Farnsworth to make it match.
Now that you got the case in hand DARTH, is there a logo on the front and is it removable?

I get the screencaps using the "print screen" key, then paste into any image program.
Ill see if i can find what youre pointing out.
Regarding the font, I definetly agree on the Ballpark Script for the F, i dont have it, but checked it out online and it looks right. Though it seems odd theyd mix a font for such a small detail like that...
I used Kunstler Script Black for the rest, all with an outline stroke to match the other outlines.
I believe the Futura I used for the numbers is a perfect match.
