[Professor Farnsworth voice]Good news everyone![/Professor Farnsworth voice]

The original thread has been restored and merged with the new one (with just a few edits).

Please remember that QMX has the Warehouse 13 license, and this thread is strictly for research and discussion purposes only. This thread is not for the sale of replicas, so please do not ask to buy a Farnsworth in this thread.

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

Has anyone else noticed that this season the Farnsworths now have a gloss black case? So if anyone wants to make a S2 version of the Farnsworth they won't have to worry about finding the right colored case anymore.

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

It's still brown just looks black in the poor lighting.
I've been paying close attention to them.
In the first episode the inner raised edge on Arties looks silver when they are at the lab with the antimater.

Just as an FYI to the membership, we don't need to archive threads anymore as we no longer prune anything from the forums (except for the OT and Junkyard).

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

Got some good news for those looking for the hard-to-find correct push button.

Found a website that has 16 available.

.There are three different models.
Although the exposed parts of the buttons are identical, the only difference is the depth of the components that will be under the brass plate.

It might be a tight fit under the brass plate (depending on which model you get)...But if you're willing to do a bit of modification it whould work out.

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

Nice Find DS! Only $5-6 each.

I just took my first go at the faceplate. Lasered from .06" black plex. For the "Farnsworth" font I used a mish-mash and a bit of custom drawn lettering.

While not perfect, I think it turned out well, but I might have some tweaks, once my other parts start arriving.

And I also have to figure out how to make this sucker look like brass.

(And NO, I am not offering these. Please don't ask, and if you PM me for one, you might get a rude reply. Fair Warning!:lol)

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

wow, that new episode was a screen capture buffet!

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

As for the color... Maybe a light sand and rub'n'buff?

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

Here's a crazy thought I've just had: Has anyone thought of doing a "modernized" version of a Farnsworth? By what I mean, I mean, like "What if Claudia figured out how the Farnsworths work and were able to scratchbuild a Farnsworth with modern technology (or even with circuitry that's 10 years or older in order to keep the Farnsworth on the "unhackable, untraceable" frequency that they work on? Yeah, I know, it's not a replica, but it's just a thought that bounced into my head.

LOL. But I meant still keeping the design relatively the same, like what if Farnsworth had managed to live for a lot longer than he did and updated the design of the Farnsworth to fit with technology of the time (like a 1980s or 1990s version).

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

I guess that could work.
Personally, I'm not too fond of 80's and 90's industrial style...It's very kitchy.

I would prefer something more iconic like the 30's-50's.
Something with these design elements -

The odd thing is that even though the show claims that the Farnsworth was developed sometime in the 40's, it doesn't have a 40's style. It's more reminiscent of late 1800's/early 1900's.

I agree, it's odd. The funny thing is, the real Philo Farnsworth died on March 11, 1971. So, for the show, in between the time he invented the television and his death, he could have done any kind of redesigns of the Farnsworths for the 1950s, 1960s or even a 1970s one (the last one he could have done before he died). And even more odd, the 3-D Holographic Camera and Projector in the latest episode looks like its something out of the 1960s instead of 1944, which is also in the same decade as the Farnsworths were apparently made.

Your examples here are a style that I really dig. Especially that S-1 pic... I've been looking for a really good photo of it to put on the wall. :thumbsup
