Hard to believe. She was only 63. They say "It's been confirmed by twitter" but what the hell does that even mean?

BBC doesn't site its source, just posts that she's died. Nothing more. Still seems fishy and out of nowhere to me. Did anyone know about this alleged cancer?

Yeah, but, see, what gets me is that it's "multiple sources" reporting from.....what? A statement from the family? All of this has happened over twitter which, I'm sorry, but I don't count as a reputable, reliable news source.

I'm not saying it hasn't happened, just that it's weird that THIS is the medium from which all the news is flowing.

I couldn't agree more. At least Nicholas Courtney was well into his 80's lovely Lis was taken far too soon.

It's to be expected these days, twitter, facebook etc are more flexible that the traditional trusted sources who, while taking longer to crank up their engines, prefer to publish a more complete article.

BBC news are reporting it, with statements from her colleagues and agent.

Next Saturday's premiere of the new series will be bittersweet now.

Yeah, the updated BBC article fleshes things out more now, and includes what I'd consider more reliable public statements. Twitter's fine for getting a rumor started, but it hardly counts as "confirmation."

Anyway, shame to lose such a lovely and talented actress so young. At least her work will live on, though.
 
Man, that's sad to hear. I was really enjoying watching her spin-off with my nephew. She looked like she could go on forever. I will miss any resolution the show might have had. Though I've yet to see Series 4.

You know, I just noticed that in my haste to post this I misspelled her first name. Should've had an S instead of a Z. I'm a relatively new Who convert but have spent months exploring the old episodes on DVD, from Hartnell to Smith and I've become a huge fan. I'm still learning my way around, to a certain extent. Sorry 'bout that, folks.
