Fallout universe fan thread

There are several bunkers hidden about that are apparently tied to the Brotherhood but you need keys for them.

Has anyone heard if they are going to have DLC for this? I took the explorer perk, since it's my first run through, and there's a LOT of empty land out to the west.

Of course there will be. The first will be coming out by the end of the year for one of the consoles, but they will come for the PC eventually.

If they pack as many locations and small missions into a DLC that they did to the main game its going to be worth the price. I'd love to see a Fallout game that shows what happened to Europe personally since according to the canon Vault tech set up stuff all over. Has anyone stopped and thought about how much some of the things Vault tech had planned for the vault dwellers as part of the social experiment sounds like something the government and big companies would do in real life?
I also wonder if they had a hand in getting the chinese to launch, i mean otherwise they would have had to have faked the attack to get the people into the vaults to start the experiment. How creepy is that: The war was real but the vault tech employees (the techs and others) went with the prewritten orders instead of doing that they should have to ensure survival.
I also have noticed how careless the people were in this universe with nuke waste, there are barrels all over. I thought for a while that it was a result of survivors trying to clean up via the tattered remains of the US military but it looks like it was just the army hiding barrels of goo anywhere they could. If the war hadn't happened there'd have been an environmental meltdown at some point by the looks of the sheer number of barrels in the wasteland. Vegas avoided the missiles but became radioactive thanks to its citizens.

Ok. This game is really getting on my nerves. I get my repair skills to a good enough level where I can fix a flying robot named ED-E and a super cooking machine to help the NCR troops, but when I make my third attempt at storming Black Mountain (first attempt I was too weak, second attempt the same), and learn that I can make a peaceful solution with Tabitha by repairing her robot, I get hit with this crap.

"This Mister Handy is broken, but you don't understand enough about robots to make heads or tails of it"

:angry:angry

Bull frelling crap. I repaired an Enclave Military robot that's much more complicated than a "use around the house" Mr. Handy, and I can't repair it because my science isn't up to par?! That's like saying if my iPhone doesn't work, I need to have a good barter skill so I can use the iTunes Store in order to download an app to fix my problem.

And to make matters worse, when I level up later and get three books to up my skill temporarily to 60 to do the deal, the robot is gone! Now what? Is my perception not high enough to see a big bulky robot laying on a work bench?

Now I've got to reload before I made the third attempt and get my science back to 30 and find the books again. Look, I don't mind doing these nonsense tasks in order to finish something my way, just try and make your nonsense consistent.

You ran into aliens? I cheated and did a Google search and they said there were no aliens! Where did you find them?

Go north of Horrowitz Tumbleweed Ranch until you reach the mountains, then turn east.
You need that Wild Wasteland Trait though. If you don’t have it you get attacked by mercenaries and end up with this far our amped up plasma rifle (which rocks the game)

It's not just empty, it's blocked.

Very frustrating. I got into Jacobstown and a Jet-lab in there but that is about it.
Even though this game is supposed to have more quests it felt more empty and open to me. There is a lot of blocked stuff to the west and a lot of space blocked by bands of Deathclaws

I've still found no way to get into the locked bunkers.

A quest from Mr House or Yesman will get you in there. I think lockpick of 100 can also get you into the one bunker that is really cool. I didn’t need a key.

Jeyl I’ve noticed glitches like that with Mr Handy in the quest. Where I goofed something and even did a reload and the quest item or person was gone. VERY frustrating.

I wasn't able to do the monorail quest because of an error like that

Good game though. I am still out on whether it was good as FO3

Deathclaw packs...really?

nothing worse than a half dozen deathclaws at once. I'm level 30 and they still give you problems. I kinda messed up a quest in the BOS bunker, i meant to do a quest to become a member but instead finished a 2nd one that canceled it so far. You need to have a high science level to get the mr handy working. Robotics are more science than repair. Repair is basically for gear and disarming some traps.

has anyone come across any really good screencaps of humans next to a robobrain, a securitybot, and a mr handy/gutsy? i'm trying to figure out how big they are in relation to humans for 3 projects i have planned. The robobrain i think is about 6 1/2 feet tall but i'm not sure.

It still doesn't make sense when you can repair robots that no one has ever encountered on the west coast (Eye Bot) compared to a robot that HAS been known on the west coast (Mr. Handy).

If the text about Rhonda's problem had something to do with the software or programming, I would agree with the science skill requirement. But it doesn't because it simply states you don't know enough about robots, which ED-E will tell you is just bad continuity

True. the problem with the mr handy is that it went into safemode and it is repaired but you have to know enough to flip a switch of all things lol. And has anyone found it disturbing that there are cross dressing super mutants? I mean some of them were female when they were human so i guess personality wise it may not change but I find it very unnerving lol.

Actually the eyebots were mass produced the ones you see in fallout 3 and NV are just modified versions so i'm assuming that the enclave has them all over the place roaming. I am betting the enclave is hiding on the west coast somewhere, maybe they're in hawaii.

Finished my first runthrough today. Without getting into spoiler stuff, *man* do they make you feel guilty about some of your choices. :p

lol. There is more of an emphasis on your choices in this game and alot more ways to mess up. I accidently killed mr house x.x I also found a glitch. the other day ed-e blew up yet everyone insists he's still floating next to me and it's stopping me from recruit a cybernetic dog yet i can recruit humans lol.

Dumb question, but is karma even used in this game? I went into the NCRCF and stole a Lying Congressional Style book and fought the powder gangers. Anyway whenever I opened their stuff I got bad karma. So is that bad karma going to my reputation with them or bad karma in general? I also hate that when you take stuff belonging to an enemy, it's treated like stealing. I just killed them all, so that's the least of their problems. :lol

lol. Yeah i figured maybe that was a glitch. It's a good game but bethesda could have done some more glitch testing. i keep finding radscorpions floating in mid air or halfway in a rock or i get stuck in a rock and have to fast travel to get free or the game freezes.

Wow. And I thought I was going to have a hard time earning money, but now I've found what is practically a GOLD MINE not only to get caps, but high end weapons! I can't believe this wasn't spotted early on.

Care to explain? Loving the game so far and just leveled up to lvl 26. I'm really hoping the ending to this game mentions many of your choices.

ahh nvm I actually just found out my own random way! Something with a cave and lakelurks, this guy just loves to give (pvt Halford).

I just restarted the game. Why can't guides have the sidequests listed in order you can do them along the main one? So far the This thing has them in a seperate area so you have to flip to them.

Here's what I did. Silver Rush. They have all the weapons and ammo laid out on their tables. You can pick ANY OF THEM UP, take them to a room where no one is around, crouch to be "HIDDEN", and take the item. No karma loss and no fuss from anyone.
