Fallout 4

I don't know what Amazon is doing but they didn't even send my pip-boy edition yet. Means I won't get until next week, and I won't be there next week. I went and bought a regular copy in a nearby store, but it's the last time I preorder something from Amazon ! At least I have the game installing right now.

Did you choose the free shipping? Mine got here from amazon at 9am and my code from gamestop was waiting for me. I'm impressed by the pipboy as the hinge and latch is actually metal. i think my forearm is too fat to fit it though lol

No, I didn't have a choice actually, it was express shipping. Granted I ordered it on the french amazon website, but I'm in Belgium, it's right next door. I don't see why they didn't send it in advanced ... Anyway, apparently it will be here friday and not next week so that's a bit better, I'll have the weekend to play with the pip-boy itself.
Really liked the intro "war never change" monologue, gave me goosebumps.
I do have one question though : how do I get the power armour to hang in its station like seen in promo arts ?

Mine is still "Out for delivery".

What amazes me are the posts I saw on here saying that some pre-orders will not arrive until later in the week. How could they not do the math to ship so the packages arrived today?:confused

Yeah, that's what I keep asking. Why not have shipped them out two days ago.

I just read that there's no level cap in the game so you can pretty much go insane and max everything out. This tells me that there's gonna be a good bit of DLC coming out as the other ones only got a few boosts to the cap.

Already only out for over 12 hours and the morons are giving it 31 bad reviews on metacritic crying like babies.

I heard rumors that target is supposed to be getting another shipment of quantum on thursday morning, can anyone confirm or deny?

Dang. Already broke my Pip-boy in two places already. If anyone hasn't gotten theirs yet or hasn't played with it, words of warning.

- the metal locking mechanism that closes the Pip-Boy around your wrist MUST be unlocked in order to close the phone housing. I realized too late that it needed to be unlocked because the locking mechanism for the phone housing will not close since the metal lock locks it's movement. And since the housing lock is made of plastic, well, bye bye phone housing.

- The turning dial behind the display has what looks to be a black button. If you apply force to it, it gives the impression that it can be pressed further like it does in-game. THIS IS NOT THE CASE! If you press it hoping for some kind of spring action to pop it back up, it won't happen. Now I've got a button that's jammed inside the body and trying to pry it out doesn't help because what was holding it in place was just a tiny piece of plastic that is now bent.

Odd part? The light on top of the display DOES feature a button like mechanic that you can press down and it will come back up. Weird they can do that for a light but not a black piece of plastic.

Oh, right! I almost forgot. iPhone 6/6s users. I use a "Snugg" case for my iPhone 6 and after having a difficult time with the foam, tried it with the Snugg case on and it fits perfectly! Way better than the foam and a lot less of a hassle.

OK, got home, took the dog for walk, fed her, WHERE IS THE UPS GUY?!

Update: It's here and I tried on the pip-boy. It's a tight fit over my big arm. This thing is going to take another hour to install. Time to go watch last nights episode of "Castle" and charge up the phone I am going to put in it.

Update 2: 7 hours of updates? WTF?!!!

Gotta love the new way the industry does gaming with 3 hours of updates. My ps4 one wasn't that bad unless there's more of them since 11am. I hate store exclusives as there isn't a target within an hour of us.

Day 1 patches typically fix bugs, load issues, save issues and whatnot. They don't act as unlocking "keys" that allow the person to play. You can play right off the disc after installing. The patch is just a rust remover for most triple A games nowadays.

Ah, ok, so the preload from Steam is the only thing that requires the final files? Good to know. Of course, I'm on about the 1 hour mark on patch download. Ah well.

Nice. I'm installing now and it's going to take 2 and a half hours to download the game I just bought on disc...

Especially when the consoles until recently came with tiny hard drives. 500gb isn't much when a game is 50 each and then you get 7gb patches. I wish these animated vault tech vids could turn into a regular series of short films.

I almost threw a fit this morning. Last night while I was downloading the huge update I noticed I also had a Windows update. Got up this morning and my computer had rebooted. Luckily it was after the Fallout update had finished.

I'm about 4 hours and have only found about 4 locations and even those i've barely explored. So far none of the glitches that everyone was complaining about in early reviews and it looks amazing. Some of the changes I'm not sure how i feel about such as the leveling system and the new look for the ghouls, which i assume is a regional thing and not a total redesign, and it feels a bit like the Destiny grind getting resources to build but that could just be me not being used to it yet. The acting is WAY better than in the last games and it's nice to see NPCs who don't look like a twin to the guy down the hall with a mustache glued to him and a change of clothes
I've been taking screen caps of stuff.
One thing that got me about the game is the baby was named Shaun just like in the reveal demo instead of a random name and somehow he was um...black when my character isn't lol. It might have been a glitch but he for sure was darker than either of his parents lol. I am having trouble getting used to them moving the vats button to l1 from r1 after 2 games.
I'm really hoping in the next few weeks or months someone'll release a list of the vintage songs in the game so i can raid amazon and make a soundtrack of that. Oh and the dog is adorable and i actually found myself talking to the screen he was so realistic lol. Which is a bad thing because as soon as he got hurt once I feel bad and swapped him out for the robot. The dynamic weather is much better than MGS5 in my opinion but holy crap it rains alot. I haven't found a way to pass time fast without having to sleep in a bed though.

Finally got Steam to download this sucker after hitting "servers unreachable" after "servers unreachable". And the best part? All I had to do was switch from the Atlanta server to.. wait for it... the Boston servers! That not only started the download, Steam immediately got an update and demanded to be reset. Whoa, was being connected to Atlanta all these years really that bad for Steam?

Due to the nature that my Mac Pro Tower is older than my house, I'm stuck with very low settings which bums me out horribly. From what I've been able to play, I'm kind of off put by how quickly things are being thrown at you. After dealing with your first encounter of raiders, you get your first energy weapon! After dealing with the raiders inside the building, you get your first power armor! And after taking your first few steps in your Power Armor, you get the mini-gun! This stuff normally doesn't happen until the 'half way' point in most of the Fallout games. I fear the game may introduce a lot of stuff a bit too early that later parts of the game won't have as much impact. Here's hoping that doesn't turn out to be the case.

I will say that the most gratifying part so far has been the pacifist option. Here I am walking in power armor with a mini-gun confronting a bunch of raiders, and when I get them in my sights, the 'pacify' option shows up. Telling them to surrender and seeing them actually surrender was something I thought I'd never experience in a game like this. The fact that it counted towards the quest in dealing with the raiders was even more satisfying because I finally feel like my character can be a good person who can deal with trouble without killing anyone. I hope there are plenty more opportunities to do this in the future because I love pacifists runs.

I swore I wouldn't buy an Xbox One until this game came out... and sure enough, a month or so after saying that they started in on the trailers.

I have an Xbox One Elite sitting in my house waiting for Christmas... I got it for my kids ;)
Pretty stoked about getting into this one.

I'm still playing through the DLC for New Vegas, but I'm ready for something fresh.
