The Halcyon's is the A2 version they also produced a A3 Queen version.
No they didn't.
GOD, I wish they had. They did make an A3 queen chestburster, thank goodness, also moulded from the real one.
But the old Halcyon kit is good??
Very! Excepting the "1:1" dogburster, and the Aliens chestburster. The chestburster is from their own sculpt and differs noticeably from the Aliens piece and vastly from the Alien version. The dogburster does not represent the film dogburster; it began life as a scaled version of the film cowburster and when the production switched to a dog instead of a cow, a completely new sculpt was made. At a guess, Halcyon probably couldn't afford to lose the money already invested in their scaled sculpt, so they just gave it new feet and renamed it.
It's a damn shame because the real dogburster design is barely seen but quite nice. Would have loved Halcyon to get to that, an accurate Alien chestburster, and an A3 queen facehugger.
In another thread it was discussed what a nightmare painting these things is.
I don't think it is a nightmare. You have an airbrush? Just give it a base coat of light tan, some darker pre-shading e.g. the nooks and crannies - and highlight the blood vessels in a bluish tone - then translucent overspray with more tan. After that some washes and drybrushing to bring out the fine detail. For the underside, same approach but with fleshy pinks and purples.
Swampdonkey's results look good. I did a 'dead' version of an A3 Halcyon hugger in greys and purples, intended for a broken stasis tube display that I never got around to. That worked, too.[/QUOTE]
