Face Shells for Spidey Masks

I have heard and seen photos of people using face shells under the mask when they are wearing spiderman masks. It seems like it would be uncomfortable and visually doesn't seem to make much of a difference. Am I just totally wrong and face shells are the way to go? just looking for a few people to shed some light on this topic

Imo faceshells are the way to go. The pic I've attached is one of the stuntman sporting the old suit in the new ASM2. The faceshell will provide that iconic look and head shape at all times.

Agreed, faceshells are a good idea. Without them you usually end up seeing your facial features too much. The nose and mouth will show through the mask which isn't pretty.

I am getting ready to have a Venom costume done for my son and was wondering the same thing. In a side note I bought a Punisher suit and it came with a separate mask which I tried on for fun since I really didn't need it and it was hard to breath, talk, look around, etc. Where can you get face shells? Or is it something easy to make?

20140122_172954_resized.jpg This is my wip spiderman face shell that is inspired by Mclean. I couldn't afford his face shell so decided to make one of my own. let me know what you folks think. I will post more pics. When done I will try to sell these to low income cosplayers like myself:)

here's my up date on my spiderman face shell progress. been real busy with work and getting ready for my black belt test in Krav Maga. Hoping to have it finished soon. Next step is making mother mould and then casting these in urethane dyed red or whatever colors folks would like to have done. let me know what you folks think. I'm looking to selling these for $100-$120 with built in magnets. I know its lower price than Mclean's face shell. I'm not doing this to steal customers. I'm doing it for those that are in the market for a face shell but don't have the finance to spend a lot20140222_203237.jpg20140222_203256.jpg20140222_203248.jpg on a face shell. If you have finance difficulties I will work something out. I'm a strong believer in helping others. I know what it's like to want something and not having money for it. Pm and I will do my best to help anyone that is interested. God bless you all. and thank you in advance.

Lack of a faceshell is what's preventing me from fully enjoying my masks. when I wear a mask (that is if it not from a pattern I make myself from scratch with no reference shots) My lips show. I have very distinctive lips which makes wearing a mask difficult to hide who I am, plus if I move my mouth too much I eat my mask and have to adjust it frequently, especially when I would speak. Faceshells eliminate those problems. It's why in all the spidey movies (maybe not tasm 1 because the mask might of have rubber or made of rubber) used faceshells. Today I purchased a faceshell from crazydog500 and I am excited to get it and try it out!

All five Spider-man films have used full faceshells. Some of the 'reveal' masks in TASM had integrated soft panels, but the main suit had a faceshell.

Face shells just complete the sleek comic spidey look. Here is the mask I made from a $10 walmart Spider-man toy mask
