Reminder: A two hour introduction to the new season is on tonight.

"The Vets Strike Back" - Host McKenzie Westmore presents an in-depth, exclusive look of eight former contestants returning to compete against the eight newcomers for the fifth season of "Face Off", featuring interviews and past highlights of the veterans.

Crap, I didn't know it was coming on and missed it. Glad I came to this thread when I did. Quick guide search shows it's coming on again in ten minutes. Gonna have to dvr it for later.

Damn, it still feels like its too soon for it to come back, but I'm glad it is! I also have to catch up on Ink Masters as well.

I know I'm dreaming, but it would be nice if thos season, we actually got a full episode's worth of material each week, without the filler! "Previously on Face Off"... Which is kinda understandable, unlike "Coming up on this episode! *Clips*".

I AM WATCHING THE EPISODE ALREADY! I WILL FIND OUT WHAT'S COMING UP... WHEN IT COMES UP!

Seriously, American TV editors are like my 7 year old son watching a movie.
If we've not seen it, it's "Who's that? What does she do? Where are they?"
If HE'S seen it, it's "That guy is X, and he's gonna Y! The bit where she does this thing with that item then goes to the other place is AWESOME!"

Shut up. Watch it, and let me watch it!

Rant over.
Ooh, Face Off's on next week! ;)

and I love the little mini show segments INBETWEEN the commercial breaks INBETWEEN the full show segments. It's like they are trying every possible angle to trick you into watching a commercial.
Me: "Grrr, commercials. Glad I have a DVR...Fast forward. Oops the show's back on. wait what? another commercial?!"

Sadly, this is EVERY show. Just an excuse for their to be less actual content necessary. :(

Let us know if they changed from the "five minutes of technique, thirty seven minutes of drama, and eighteen minutes of commercials" because otherwise I'm not watching another season. I'm also tired of shows going to commercial just as they are about to announce the winner. The moment I hear "the winner..." I hit fast forward.

Sent from my Etch A Sketch.

Ugh, turned the tv on in my office and I had left it on SyFy the night before so the FaceOff special is showing. Some of the behind the scenes stuff is interesting.

Pretty decent start to the season. They had some really killer makeups for the first episode. There are definitely some of the newbies that you can tell right away will be going home. I know they have to pimp out their shows but what the hell was the point of having the people on there to stand in a pose, say a single sentence and then nothing else.

Also watching the heroes of cosplay right now and it's a steaming pile of ****. Screams scripted almost as bad as those storage locker shows.

I was wondering if they were going to keep that same format, I guess it starts again in 30 mins, after this Heroes of Cosplay.. and can I just say, watching 10 mins of that.. I'd rather let a hobo burp in my mouth then be involved with any of these people. They're the worst.

Watching Heroes of Cosplay now after Faceoff as well.

I'm sorry, but Jesse is driving me INSANE.
He is saying how he wants to do this stuff for a living and all that, and he has a spinning gun, sure, but.... Painted football gear?
PAINTED FOOTBALL GEAR?
That just...
Enclave armor isn't like that.
If it is an OC with some elements from Fallout, then call it that, but don't call it what it isn't. :C

Perhaps I'm just being too picky though.
I just think there's so many more talented people on here that would have been better to represent the cosplay community over a lot of these people.

Meanwhile I am just straight up feeling bad for Victoria's boyfriend.
She's just absolutely freaking out on him when the costume was her choice to begin with.

new faceoff season seems interesting to say the least glad to see some old faces back!

and heroes of cosplay seems like a steaming pile. that yaya girl had to say all of 2 words and im already just pissed off with her voice and uppity attitude.

Yaya is hailed as pretty much being the most innovative and amazing costumer in cosplay.
Hence why most cosplayers purchase worbla from her to use for their costumes - since her worbla stuff is considered to be the amazing as all hell.

So she's supposed to be a pretty big part of the show due to that.

First off, Face Off season opener was okay. Glad to see that Laura is back as I thought she should have won on season 3. I don't see too many of the newcomers shining this season except for maybe Laney.

As for Heroes of Cosplay: Just ugh. As expected, SyFy had to get as much drama as they could into it. But with that said, I actually know Becky (Aktrez, the one who cosplayed as Merida) from many years ago. My opinion of her from back then wasn't all too great. Nothing from the show has changed that. It has nothing to do with her cosplay or other "talents" she may have. It's just a personal opinion that I and others I know had and still have of her regarding what kind of person she is from our experiences with her.

As for Yaya Han, I have met her a couple of times while she was on the convention circuit both in and out of costume. I really thought she was a very nice person and understands that a lot of people in the community look up to her and does her best to represent said community in the best light.

I feel like there was less drama on Face Off tonight than I remember there being in the past, even with a team/collab challenge which usually means tension. I suspect that having experience with the format and cameras etc. mean that at least half of the crew there aren't as tightly wound, and a couple of the new team were older/business owners who were staying calm while others on their team were freaking out.

I also saw Heroes of Cosplay. I was going into it hoping it would be great... to shut down some of the ridiculous abuse and negativity (not to mention outright personal attacks) I've seen shot at it for weeks by people who *haven't watched the damned show yet*. Sadly, it seems the production did everything they could to interject tension through heavily cutting/editing any conversations between the cosplayers (not that they were very successful, everyone seemed focused on their own costumes and challenges). Some of the conversations also appeared, to me, to have a set theme from the beginning as if someone off camera was saying "OK, now I need you to say something to make Yaya seem really, really scary". The not-finished costume was disappointing, in that it detracts from the idea that these are supposed to be "close-to" professionals. She gave herself a terrible deadline with no reasonable backup plan.

A new thread should be started for Heroes of Cosplay so that we don't get things mixed up between the two threads. That being said I won't be the one starting it.

On a final note about the show, it's the first episode and already they're trying to play up the drama and whatnot. And again, everything seems scripted. I can't stand those post production commentary but the people on the show just because you know they're reading a script or have memorized their lines. The only thing I wasn't expecting was the vault dweller not to win. The way they sort those shows up, it's always the main people that win.

:lol I was thinking the same thing. I am not a costumer, but I even pointed out all the football elements. And the aging technique he was doing was far from a professional paint job. Making it as a prop builder in the industry takes more than the amount of building he did. With the amazing work from people here, I am shocked RPF members didn't join the cast and kick the quality up a few notches.
