fabric foam iron man Updated and almost done.

re: fabric iron man - Fett tutorial

this is a VERY good method for that suit since it's so fitted.

Smart guy :)

re: fabric iron man - Fett tutorial

I will ask again. Any updates? I am dying to see the finished product or at least a WIP pic.

re: fabric iron man - Fett tutorial

I hereby vote that you show us a Fett using this technique. I'm having trouble with my Femme Fett armor and I'm more of a seamstress than anything. This would be the technique for me, but I'd like to see what it might look like.

re: fabric iron man - Fett tutorial

Sorry about the updates... Working through family issues. Brother got into a car accident the night before halloween and I have not been on here or LOH SCF pages. I will update as soon as i can. But it wont be the fett tutorial. I was so inspired by the foam iron men suits going aroung I started a mark VI with foam and fabric. so i will update both once i have the time. Again I am sorry for how long it has taken

Fabric foam Iron Man Try2

I did not like how this build was going so i abandoned it and started to make my war machine suit. Once I finished the body build i have been trying to figure out the painting process. It is taking a while to figure it out I am not the best painter period.
So while i waited for things to dry and see how it turned out I started to use the remainder of the foam from war machine and started a mark 6 suit. but instead of painting it I will be covering it with fabric this is what I will be working on to finish.\

One more week and i will have the rest done... It is not 100% correct but it will be mine. if anyone wants to know I got the idea from the starscream transformer costume on Deviant art it was made the same way with Spandex and not sure if its foam or card board.

re: fabric iron man - Fett tutorial

So everything will be covered in fabric, including the helmet? Looking good so far.

Re: fabric iron man - Fett tutorial

This is amazing. Not quite sure how you did the whole fabric thing. Could you elaborate a bit?

Re: fabric iron man - Fett tutorial

this is still a work in progress. Being a prototype i am getting better as I go. but for now the procedure I used was heat and bond on the fabric back and I used the eva foam for workout material it is a half inch thick i think. But I would press the fooam out and apply spray glue to it. at that point I will lay the fabric over the foam. after five or so mins I actually then ironed the fabriic over the foam... this bulds a two sided sticky bond. i recommend at this time laying the foam out and lay something over it to flatten it out. the more thin the foam is the more likely it will curl up. After that I traced and cut out the templates and glue them togehter. I dont know how to reinforce it so I use my pep scraps and glue the seams on the inside.

almost done elbows, gloves, repulsor light and neck to do. I will be making a movie colored version now that i hvae a pretty good method

Looks really nice. Do you have any problems with the foam being dented and easily marked up?

I had no problem the back side of my foam is flat... and the fabric doesnt really show any dents in the foam. My next one will be better. I may do a movie version or the manga ironman dio. I like the blue on it.
