Scroll down to see the revised project.

Hello RPF I am new here. Name is Robin Johnson. I am a member of the LOH or SCF and I am know for sewing not really prop making. I do best with DC characters but want to try my hand at Iron Man. .

I have tried pep and resin but just have yet to be patient with anything but the helmet. so i wanted to try another route. I am using fabric and large sheets of foamies bonded with heat and bond with some sewing. I started with the files From Fett and the Mark V armor.

From there i cut the parts out with the foam, bonded them with fabric, and then sew them together. Let me know what you think. oh and the abs are a base of the robo files.

Thank you gentlemen for sharing.

That's a really cool idea and I'm loving how it's coming out so far. You've gotta be brave to make a skin-tight Iron Man suit. :p

Seriously though. Keep up the great work. This is definitely one of the most creative Iron Man builds I've seen. Can't wait to see how it all turns out.

re: fabric iron man - Fett tutorial

well it is one of his smaller armors. and this suit is not supposed to be bulky like the others. I do plan, if this works, to make his new armor like this. the armor in the comic book.

re: fabric iron man - Fett tutorial

Thats awesome!! Great job so far. When its finished, how hard do you think it will be to get in and out of?

re: fabric iron man - Fett tutorial

Looking really good. You've already got iron man's build, i wish i looked like that under my suit, lol.

Keep it up, can't wait to see the end result.

re: fabric iron man - Fett tutorial

Looking good!

You know, you should try a War Machine variant of the Mark V too!

re: fabric iron man - Fett tutorial

the suit is easy to get into. I wish i would have tried it out in different ways... For example there are clips and velcro that connect in the back.

but if I had taken more time I would have sewn the back or hot glued everything and made it velcro connect around the arc reactor in the front.

the abs actually velcro in the back.

I am doing the arms and shoulders today and plan to finish and post them. i want to make the cod piece smalleror better to fit also.

I have made the helmets before with pep files but dont want to use them. I just bought the costume version that came out this year and plan to fiberglass the inside and re paint it.

I would love to do a warmachine. But i will just have to figure out how to come up with it and combine the two.

Thanks for the support and good words. Also I want to say thanks to everyone that came up with the non-pep iron man ideas. that is what has given me this idea to try. i will continue to update soon

re: fabric iron man - Fett tutorial

Damn dude, you don't need the suit to puff you up!

BTW, do I see a match made in heaven?...

Nice progress on the suit. Nice and comfortable alternative to pep and bondo work.

Now that a Spider... well Spider Woman. love the cross of Kraven and spidey.

But i have put a little work in today shoulders arms done. It is easy to get in and out of. Have not had a problem on my own. I tried it with red and black tights. I am also going to try it with a silver that i was going to use for thor armor.

re: fabric iron man - Fett tutorial

wow, thats an excellent idea!

btw u must squat what, 450? or is that a track runner's build?

re: fabric iron man - Fett tutorial

Easily the best Mark V out there. Looks great!

What are your past cosplays? Have you done the Green Arrow?

re: fabric iron man - Fett tutorial

This is very cool! I am actually going to do something similar for my son. I'm going to get a red hooded sweatsuit for my son and then add felt to it, simulating the armor for the Mark VI suit.

Do you have any advice on attaching the felt to the sweatsuit? I've got plenty of iron-on adhesive, but I am not sure if that will work well or not.

Can't wait to see your suit when it's completed!

re: fabric iron man - Fett tutorial

Whit, try to lay the shirt out as evenly as possible and place a temporary stitch here and there just to get it to stay, then make him wear it while you check for evenness. Than after your 100% sure you're happy with the placement of the armor, go ahead and use the iron on adhesive. Maybe even getting a washable fabric pen to trace the armor outline before ironing it on to help keep it even also?

Punisher, Thanks for the advice...I'll either start a thread for this project or add it to my existing Triangle Arc Reactor thread.
