Exclusive: Golden Gun

So what if there will be 1000 or so owners of guns with extra plastic bullets......your SE gun will still be more collectible. I honestly don't see this worth griping about....just my opinion of course.

Well, I like the idea of having extra bullets, especially ones that don't have the 007 logo embedded on it. Great display potential.

But more importantly, the SE was supposed to be the LE with more added to it. The idea that the LE comes with more for the replica itself and not the SE does feel like a cheap out. Signatures are one thing, but the gun isn't what's signed. It's a plaque. Those bullets can be used with the replica itself.

One thing that I noticed in one of their posts about this issue is that they said that there still may be something special included with the SE's too. They just didn't want to say what it might be at the time. So, I would take a wait and see attitude for now.

We can always return it the SE's if we don't like what we get, but I for one really don't care about the whole issue. If I get the bullets with the SE, then fine. If I get something else, that is fine with me too. If I don't get anything but the sigs of 2 great actors, then that is fine with me. I didn't buy it expecting anything else.

But as Jez says, we can agree to not agree.

Now I understand the point of some who bought the SE gun and won't get any bullets but I don't think FE is making a helluva lot more money on the SE gun.

Tymer, I respect your opinion although have to beg to differ with you on this point. 400 SE's at a premium of $200 each is $80,000 and I dont think for a minute the sigs from RM and CL cost them anywhere near that. Also, remember that all the SE's are only sold direct hence there's no dealer discount (which I understand is around $150 on the LE's $400 tab). Multiply that up and thats another $60k revenue uplift. Bottom line is the SE is a lot more profitable then the LE, gun for gun

Cheers

I think everybody seems to be missing the point.
We paid $450 for the LE and then found out we could have saved about $100 buying from a dealer, so I for one was pretty miffed.
I think the bullets make up for some of this but I don't think they are worth $100.
The people that paid $650 are paying for the exclusivity of the signatures and you paid the lowest possible price available

Well, I'm not going to cancel my order or go directly to Factory Entertainment and accuse them of being cheap. I work in computer repair and when a situation comes up where we've got to cover up for it, it's freaking hard to think of the best solution.

I'm not angry, just a bit disappointed. I'm getting what I paid for and I hope it's a great piece.
.
.
.....can I still has teh five bullets? :angel

Ive just come off the phone with the guys at Factory Entertainment and they told me that theve had a look at this again and have decided to extend the offer to include the SE as well.

IMO this is a great result for both sides and reflects very well on the company, since theyre clearly interested in the views of us fans - and are prepared to rectify issues if they occur(y)thumbsup:thumbsup

Great news!

Cheers

5 bullets are still not worth the savings of buying from other retailers.

Please understand whenever possible I also try to buy from a vendor rather than direct from the manufacturer especially if they are situated in California. Just buying out of state saves me the tax and some vendors offer free shipping. I found the LE Gun online from a vendor back east for $50 less but its only a pre-order and NO.....I REPEAT .....NO guarantee they will even get one. Plus the SE Gun was only being sold from Factory Entertainment and would not be available from vendors. Lets see..save maybe around $100 and get something less exclusive that 1000 other people have or spend the extra money and get something only 400 people would have. I've been collecting props and other things for decades and one thing I found that drives the price up on objects in demand....LOW NUMBERS. This is also an investment or have you noticed guys are already asking almost twice for eFX's Mark IX Tricorder?
Of course I don't buy everything with the intention of reselling it. I buy something mainly because I like it but if you can get something you like AND it will be worth more later....why not? If you sell it later because you want something else wouldn't it be better to get back more than you paid for it? I feel this low number edition will only increase in value.....if it hadn't been for such a low number and it was 1000 or more SE Guns then I would have went for the LE Gun instead. The VERY low numbers is what sold me on the SE Gun rather than the LE Gun. I like saving a few bucks too but felt it was worth the extra $$ because and ONLY because of the exclusivity.
As for the extra plastic bullets?......if they come with the gun then fine...if not I wouldn't care. I think over a time most guys will loose these because of their size and really nowhere to keep them except laying inside the Gun display case.

We just need to find some Chunghwa brand Chinese cigarettes so we can keep our extra bullets in the box.

I havent bought a piece like this before and this isnt even my favorite Bond film but this replica is so wonderfully crafted and evocative of the Bond spirit that i had to place an order for the LE. Also got a $5 lobby poster to go with it.
How do you guys plan to display yours?

Just thinking ahead,
I would like to have names on the other bullets.
If anyone can suggest different ways of achieving this it would really enhance the displays. Any info on the extra bullets would also be helpful,
at this stage i only know that they are plastic.
When they start shipping, everyone will have extra bullets IMHO

I bought the SE for the same reasons Tymer did. I just wish they would have a better picture of the display case. The one on their site looks like a 3-D to me. Hopefully someone can post some pics from comic con so we can get a better look.

Well, I have plotted the entire Golden Gun as a paper prop hoping against hope to get some measurements of the original or one of the remakes, but no one has been willing to part with even ONE dimension of the prop they own. Not that I blame them.
What I have come up with is based on the photos of the length of the pen/barrell in Sir Christopher Lee's hand. Now I know he is 6' 5" tall, but I can postulate that his hands are close to the same as Sir Roger Moore's (6' 1").
What I have come up with is the pen (with cap & clip/sight), the lighter (with opening top), the cigarette case (with opening top), and the cuff link (but I'm not happy with it) and I hope to print them on gold paper, but I haven't found what I like yet.

Some guys have asked to see the Golden Gun pics and can't get into my Comic Con thread in the Off Topic area....so heres a few pics

Please keep in mind the "parts" I took pictures of were rejects just for show. There has since been a few tweeks to them for a better product...something to do with how they fit better to the gun when assembled.

Any news on these?
Its getting close to shipping time and with events elsewhere, im not nervous, just more interested in the process.:confused

UPDATE!

Factory Entertainment has posted a VERY DETAILED look at the actual Golden Gun replica, complete with on-screen instructions on constructing the device from it's many components, which bits and pieces are movable and even a little bit of detailed history behind the actual prop itself.

One of the best official replica videos produced.

*note* BOTH the signature edition and limited edition will include five golden bullets if bought exclusively through their site.
