Exclusive: Golden Gun

I'd like a make a complaint against the OP...

After reading this thread, I am now out $667:angry

I finally pulled the trigger on the Gold Gun. My order is #746 for the Signature version. I am having it ship to my office so maybe I can explain to the taxman that it is a business expense!

Woot! Sig edition 105/400. :)

The whole thing is great, but the one thing I'm kinda disappointed with is that the plaque isn't metal, but more of a flexible plastic material. I suppose it doesn't matter much since it just sticks to the base, but i still like the nice, solid feel of the metal plaques that we've all been spoiled with.

Mantis, what's the other golden gun do you have there? A SD Studios version? How do the two compare, because I really love the make of the Factory Replicas one. It feel solid and damn good for a mass produced piece, and I can only imagine what an SD Studios version feels like.

These look so nice, I am so jealous of everyone who got one! Definitely don't have the money for one of these.

They both have their uniqueness and features and benefits. The SD Studios has great heft and feel when held and the luster is very realistic to gold. The FE gun goes together easier and the ability to be able to put a bullet into the chamber brings it up a notch. The FE presentation, especially the signature series, has a great museum quality to it while the SD Studios wood box is subtle but very effective. They both came/come with great tidbits from the movie and creation of the prop while FE has gone with a more modern design of their booklets SD kept in the vein of the era from which TMWTGG was released in.

My first "shot from the hip" comparison leaves me saying what Factory Entertainment has said all along...there is great respect for the SD Studios gun and if you can get one or have one don't let it go. It is a piece of prop replica and Bond replica history. But for my money I need them BOTH, and I suspect if you own an SD you will want an FE as well. AND if you don't own an SD then you will CERTAINLY want the FE!

Regardless, these are almost or ARE sold out so those fence sitters will be pining for an FE some day like others have pined for an SD...

First things first. How do we get rid of that red plug in the barrel without destroying the replica?

Alot of folks over at the ajb007.co.uk site are not very impressed with this gun. Seems there are issues with quality, manufacturing faults and packaging. I haven't gotten mine yet, but I have lowered my expectations bar substantially so as to avoid disappointment.

I've been following that thread. Not exactly the kind of reviews I've been hoping for, as mine is currently sitting at Irish customs, and is soon to be delivered... I'm absolutely dreading finding any problems with the gun.

Speak of the devil, and hey presto, he appears.

Just checked the tracking status of mine.

Tomorrow morning I'll get a nice white note in the mail to go & collect it.

I'll go, have a massive fight with people there that the ruddy thing doesn't actually fire anything, pay the blessed 20% tax, get home, have a couple of glasses of wine, and hold my breath.

It's not got news hearing about those issues, but so far everyone who has posted here saying they received theirs has been very happy with it, so I'm reserving judgement until I actually have it in my hands. Like any good company, they should have extra stock on hand to allow you to get a replacement if there is something wrong with it.

+1 I'm going to wait and see what i get, If they'd ship the darn thing. :wacko :lol

I don't have many issues with mine. There are some nicks and dings on the broader parts, but nothing you can see from an pretty close distance.

The one thing that surprised me about the replica is how soft it is. I know that's because of the plating, but goodness gracious! I felt like cutting my nails just out of fear I might mark this sucker.

I still think it looks wonderful and I do play around with it every so often to pretend I'm in Goldeneye 64 with THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON IN THE GAME! So, yeah. I like it.

Yeah, there are a few scuffs here and there on mine, but like Jeyl said, you can't notice them without really looking close (In fact, on mine you really have to angle the pieces to see the imperfections in the right light).

And besides, anythign that's plated is going to be nigh impossible to keep pristine and scuff/scratch free. I just make sure to handle and disassemble/assemble it carefully. I mean, sure, I could have b!tched and complained about the minor imperfections on the GG to FE, but considering 99.75% of the gun is absolutely gorgeous, It really isn't worth the effort, especially since the replacement might be worse.

It's sad to hear that some people are having problems, but I'm completely satisfied with mine. :thumbsup

After reading all the issues being mentioned over at ajb007 (most definitely not limited only to minor imperfections), I will reserve my judgement for after I get a chance to see the one I got, tomorrow ... after I fight with customs ... and pay the 20% fee ... and have a few glasses of wine to go to happy land and thus be unbiased :lol

Oh-oh!

I hope mine is a keeper!
